She swallowed hard and blinked quickly to relieve the soreness which had developed. She bent down and picked up the phone to quell her friend's shouts.
"Suz... Yeah... I'm fine...but, I'm gonna have to call you back."

Rebecca fit the phone back into her pocket and bellowed into the house. "Olivia?!"

No response.
Elliot watched as she crossed her arms and began to tap her foot. "Olivia!" She shouted once more pronouncing every letter in her name.

"Liv, get your ass out here--."

The sound of a door rattling open and heavy footfalls against the grain was indication enough that she was heard.
"Holy Hell!" She bellowed still out of sight. "Are you trying to wake him? And why in the hell are you hollering? A gentle call wouldn't have sufficed? I mean--"

There she was. She stopped hollering and stood frozen in the foyer. Her hands slowly fell to her side but her mouth remained open. Even though he had seen her a day before, this was different. She was home-- her home for the last two years at least.
He was at her front door staring at her in her comfortable home clothes. She looked so--homey, like a new person.

Olivia twisted the fabric of her dark, thick, cable knit sweater before burying her hands into the sleeves. Her hair was shorter but curlier-- a bob. He had learnt this term with Lizzie over the summer while flipping through magazines as her appointment.
She was pale and she was beautiful.

"Took you long enough." She sliced the silence.
"I got your address from-"
"Cragen, I know... I should've given it to Fin... Cap's a big sap,"

"I'm sorry to just show up here but your old number didn't work and I don't get the new one."

"There was a reason for that." She snapped. "Now, I need you to leave."

"Olivia!" Rebecca reprimanded
"I just wanna talk."

"We said all we needed to in the bullpen." She muttered

None of them noticed the flashes of lightning which illuminated the sky. His eyes hadn't left hers and hers from his.
As for Rebecca, she fixed on the swirl of the wood beneath her feet... They were consistent, rich... Probably oak from Bull's yard on the southern part. Yes, she thought definitely from there.

His chest was tight. He could not breathe. The fact that she could shut the door on him at any moment terrified him. The thought of having her out of his life completely was unimaginable...he had to make this work. He knew he couldn't survive another day far less a lifetime without her. She was part of him--she was his heart.

The sudden boom of thunder propelled them all slightly into the air.

Olivia looked behind her, silently praying for her son to remain silent. After a few moments of quiet reassurance, she turned back to meet two sets of eyes. A sudden gush of wind set her off balance and slammed the door shut. She didn't need to look back at her child. She knew that was it. Elliot was no longer in her sight. The tension was replaced now by a constant wail.

"I'll get him... You--" Rebecca quickly said, she pointed towards the now closed door which at that moment gave Olivia an immense amount of comfort.

"I like it closed," she said. "Keeps the cold out...we should keep it--"

"Olivia." She gritted shoving her towards the door.

Olivia relents and tried to settle herself before inching towards the door as the rain began to echo off the roof. Behind her, she could hear Rebecca's voice lulling Quinn and cooing at him. He didn't let up-- he was screaming now, the sound of his cries receded further into the house. She wanted to turn around and run to her baby; wrap her arms around him and tell him that he was alright-- to calm him. But she knew. She knew that even if Rebecca allowed her to quiet him--yes, allowed her, she would not have been able to handle it.

After a couple of minutes her arms would give out and she probably collapses from the sudden stress. So she continued on towards the door. Towards him. The familiar face she'd tried to forget.

The wind banged against the door, making it hard for Olivia to open it safely. She flattened her palm against the top and she closed her eyes, seemingly trying to gather strength from a source unknown to her. She yanked the door open and was greeted by a sheet of grey. Not Elliot. Not his eyes. His smile even... No, rain. She steadied herself against the door jam and breathe out the pressure in her chest.

She looked left then right. He stood perched over the railing with his hands sweeping over his head.

Through the chaos, he could still hear the creak of the wood beneath someone's feet. He hoped it was her-- he needed it to be her. The creaking stopped and he turned around. There she stood, her arms blocking the spray of rain and her eyes squinted. He smiled. She'd come to invite him into her home.

"Rebecca doesn't want you out here in the rain... It gets rough out here."
"Rebecca?"
"Yes, the redhead who answered the door, Rebecca."
A smirk spread across his lips and he ran his hand over his head once more.

"But, I'm wet." Her mouth went dry and she was fully aware that her eyes were ten times their normal size. She felt her cheeks warm and her upper lip involuntarily quirk.
He laughed," Olivia, it's raining."
"I-I know... We...have a mo-mop." She cursed herself for fumbling like an idiot.

"Get in before I change my mind."
"You mean Rebecca... Rebecca's mind. No?" He breezed past her leaving a trail of moisture and half-deflated Olivia behind.

The door banged into place and Olivia with the unsolicited help from Elliot put in the wooden planks.
Rebecca came bouncing into the foyer with a small toddler in her hands. Elliot instantly recognized him as the baby from the day before-- Olivia's son.

"I'll take him up--" Rebecca bypassed Olivia's open arms and walked right to Elliot whose eyes were wide.
"This is Elliot, Q." Quinn's droopy eyes didn't flinch but continued on downward. "This is your--"
"Becc."
"Momma's friend."

Elliot's eyes hadn't left the boy's face. Studying his features--his mother's features. His lips, his nose, his eyelashes. His ears-- pointy, his eyebrows---bushy, skin pale. Elliot tilted his head and everything finally made sense. He knew why the love of his life had left him.

"He has your everything, Liv, he's... Beautiful," he said testing her reaction.
She sighed and offered a relieved smile.
"Thanks, El." She whispered as Rebecca transferred the toddler to her.

He'd gotten his partner pregnant.
