SiriusBlack was nervous when he waited for his envelope to Hogwarts. He waswalking back and worth by the door waiting for the owl to arrive.Sirius had decided to be male not to long ago. It was an issue he hadbeen dealing with for a while. But he loved he was living as a boynow. Most of his family was not supportive. Both of them had disownedhim. While it was mostly due to him being seen as a traitor theydidn't take his transition well either. They both saw it as a phase.Both of them even hoped someone should whip him into shape. Bellatrixmade fun of him every chance she got and Lucius just sneered. Hisbrother Regulus took it rather well. While he thought it was weird atfirst he did try to name him correctly and use the right pronouns. Hemessed up from time to time often just shaking it off but got betterover time. Andromeda took it best. She was rather supportive from thebeginning even defending him from the rest of his family. He heardsomething drop by the door. There it was; his letter. His hands shookas he held it in his hands. Slowly he opened it and took the letterout. With a deep breath and a moments silence he looked at theletter.
"DearMr. Sirius Black. We are pleased to inform you that you have beenaccepted into Hogwarts School for Watercraft and Wizardry."
Hestood for a moment just looking at it dumbfounded. There it was inink. The same he has chosen for himself. A smile appeared on his faceand he jumped.
"Yes!"He danced a little knowing it was right.
"Whatthe hell are you doing?" His father Orion asked.
"Myname is here. My real name. The one I choose." Hr smiled.
"Whenwill you get over this dumb fantasy of yours?" He glared at Sirius.Sirius tried to ignore him. Walburga snorted.
"Aslong has he's gone for most of the year what do I care. He's out ofour hair now."
"Oh."Orion said. "And you better get into Slytherin. It will be yourlast chance to be a part of his family." He and his wife walkedaway leaving Sirius alone.
Atlast he was at Hogwarts. He was standing in a group with other firstyears who would get sorted.
"Welcometo Hogwarts, everyone." McGonagall said. "When I call your nameyour will step forward, sit here and I will place the hat on yourhead. After that you will be placed into your house." Everyonestarted talking. Not to long after that she called for Sirius.
"SiriusBlack." Sirius walked up and sat on the stool. Just as she did heheard a voice.
"ABlack, huh?" The hat said. "Yes. I've had members of your familybefore. All Slytherin. I'm sure that's were you want to be placedtoo."
"Actuallyno, sir. I feel like I don't belong in Slytherin. I disagree with myfamily. In fact they hate me. I'd like to be placed anywhere butthere."
"Isee. Sirius; you choose that name yourself, yes?"
"Idid. I was born female but I know I'm really male. I had to tell myfamily and they didn't they it well. But I had to so I could be comeme. They bullied me but that won't stop me. I'm Sirius." The hatnodded.
"Isee. There is only one place for you.." The hat then said loudly"GRYFFINDOR!" The Gryffinfor table clapped as he took his seat.Most of the Slytherins were glaring at him. In short time be madefriends with three other boys. James Potter, Remus Lupin, and PeterPettigrew. They called themselves the Marauders. They even hadnicknames. James was Prongs, Remus was Moony, Peter was Wormtail, andSirius was Padfoot. Overtime Sirius knew he had to tell them. He toldthem to visit him in the Common Room at Midnight when he knew thetime had come.
"Sowhy did you summon us here?" James asked. Sirius looked at all ofthem a moment.
"I'msure I can tell a secret to all of you guys?"
"Ofcourse." James smiled.
"Youhave our word." Remus replied.
"Nota soul." Peter nodded. Sirius nodded as well.
"Asyou knew I'm seen as the blacksheep of the family due to being sortedinto Gryffindor and not agreeing with my family." They all nodded."There's another reason. I was born female." He stopped and tooka breath. "I didn't transition until just a little before leavingfor Hogwarts. My family despised it. While they didn't stop me theywere also glad to get rid of me for the year. They even disowned me.Despite my body being female I am a male in mind and soul. I hope touse magic to change my body one day. Dumbledore and McGonagall saidthey would help. But I'm a guy no matter what." Sirius stopped. Heexcepted them to leave which means he would have no friends. InsteadJames put a hand on his shoulder with a smile. Remus did the same onthe other Peter put his hand on his knee.
"Youguys don't mind?"
"Aftereverything we've been though. We would be crazy to abandon you."James said.
"You'vebeen Sirius to us this long so I don't see a reason to not see itnow." Remus patted his shoulder.
""You'reSirius and that's all that matters." Peter smiled.
"Youguys are the best friends I could ask for."
Afew years later Remus would end up getting bitten my a werewolf. Allthe boys decided to become animagus's. James was a stag, Sirius was awolf, and Peter was a rat. Sirius let Remus know he would be therefor him.
"Iknow what it's like, Remus." Sirius said. "To be different. Iwant you to know I'll be here for you. For better or for worse. Ifyou ever need to talk to me then you can. We can talk together.
"Thankyou, Sirius. Ever since the incident things have been terrible.Dumbledore has been great but living in that shack is horrible andsome people who know are scared of me. I'm lucky to have you as afriend."
Severalyears after school the worst happened. James and Lily were killed,Peter was a traitor, and Sirius was arrested and sent to Azkabam. For12 years he rotted there only wanting to see his godson. Eventuallyhe did see him again though. He looked so much like James; but he hadhis mothers eyes. One of the last time he saw him he told him hissecret.
"Soyou were born female but now you're male." Harry asked.
"Yes.I hope it's not confusing."
"Sirius,since I was 11 years old I've ridden a broomstick, done magic tricks,was almost killed by a man with two faces, fought Voldemorts memory,learned I can talk to snakes, rode a beast named Buckbeak, fought ina tournament, and met two men who can turn into a werewolf and awolf. Nothing is weird anymore.
"Pointtaken." Sirius laughed.
