'I stay up all night, tell myself I'm alright
Baby, you're just harder to see than most
I put the record on, wait 'til I hear our song
Every night I'm dancing with your ghost

Ray didn't realize where he was, it took a while for his dark forest green eyes to adjust to his surroundings. He soon realized he was in the house but something felt off it was much brighter and almost hazy? He then heard broken cries from down the hall, intrigued the boy followed the noise until seeing a blonde figure. Ray knew at that moment that he was in some sort of dream, given the fact that the blonde in front of him no longer walked on this earth. He felt a bitterness tug at his teeth as he was torn from being happy to see the girl or screaming to get him to wake up.

He didn't know why his subconsciousl chose to torment him with a false senerio. There was no logic as this never happened it wasn't a memory his mind chose to revisit. No this was just all a cruel twisted way of torture given to him by his mind.

He had experienced lucid dreams before but this one... this one made him wish he was awake. The sceptical boy approached his love his touch against her cheek was gentle as he held her shaking frame.

Y/n broke into a uncontrollable wave of sobs as she leaned against the the wall slowly decending onto the cold ground with Ray holding onto her shoulders decending also.

"I don't want to die, I don't want to die, I don't want to die I don't want to die, I don't want to die-" she repeated hysterically.

Ray pulled her close to him his tears matching hers. "You're not going to die I'll make sure of it" he said denial was the first stage of grief he had read, and if his mind was playing this false senerio he hoped that the ending would also be different. Even if it was all just a dream he wanted to play pretend a little longer. The fear of loosing her broke him. It physically caused him pain with the thought of never seeing her face or hearing her voice ever again. He couldn't live without her touch.

"I don't want to die Ray-I haven't lived!" She sobbed into the boy's shirt. "I'm going to die knowing everything I have done in my life was meaningless" she croaked with a lump in her throat.

Ray woke up abruptly his heavy pants filled the room as his heart felt as if it was in a million of tiny fracturs of broken glass. His slumber was just haunted with images of the girl he couldn't save. Although the dreams weren't memories of what happened they did still hurt the tried raven as he thought about how terrified she must of felt in her last moments. Guilt crawled up into his throat as he grabbed a nearby trash can and threw up.

He was hunched over it for a few minutes before wiping the foual stench from his mouth with a near by napkin and walked out of the bedroom.

He held his head in his hands as his breathing was uneven. The guilt swelled up inside him and felt like it was going to explode from his body. His promises he made to his Y/n. Was in the end meaningless, the last thing he did for Y/n was fail her.

The day she had left was engraved in his mind as his mother heard his screams and unlocked the door to see him smashing the room up in rage.

"SHE'S GONE! WE HAD A DEAL! IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ME NOT HER! " The green eyed boy screamed  throwing books on the floor as he collapsed into the wooden floors clinging to his body as he rocked back and forth crying. A strong jabbing pain spread along his chest causing him to grunt. He clawed at his skin until he felt the crimson blood trickle from his face he scratched at his face until it was red raw.
