Falling

Chapter 6

Marinette's POV :

I close my eyes and embrace my fate.

The suffering I've been through because of Lie-la, Chloe and Adrien will finally come to an end. It's the end of MDC, an untalented fashion designer. It's the end of Ladybug, a disappointment to her partner and, soon, to all of Paris.

The pressure was too much and I want it gone like anyone would. I just chose a permanent solution.

Just as I expected to hit the water, a pair of strong arms caught me. My eyes shot open at the sudden physical contact. I look up to see one of Gotham's vigilantes, Red Robin. We land back on the bridge as I start to tear up.

Marinette angrily : Why did you save me?

Red Robin surprised : I-I was patrolling the area and saw you falling and hurried to rescue you. What happened?

Marinette taken a back : I-I...

I just start sobbing. The reality of my situation hit me all at once.

I actually tried to kill myself... I was angry at him for catching me at first, but now I don't know anymore...

Red Robin : Hey! Are you alright? Do you need me to call you an ambulance? Or do you need me to bring you home?

I barely manage to choke out the word "home" in between sobs and show him the address on my phone.

Red Robin : Okay! Hold on tight!

I put my arms around him and hold on tightly. He takes out a grappling hook and we're off. I hold on tightly, like I would have if I didn't swing on a yo-yo every day... My tears slowly stopped flowing as I looked around at the busy city at night.

°Time skip°

We've been trying to get back to my apartment for an hour now, but Red Robin seems a little lost. I stopped crying a while ago and am currently trying not to laugh at his confused face. He stops on a roof.

Red Robin : I swear it was this way!

I can't hold back anymore. This is just too funny.

Marinette while giggling : I can check on my phone if you want.

Red Robin : I know where we are! There's no need!

Marinette : So do I. I also know for a fact that you have "known where to go" for an hour now and have been saying that we'll be there in 5 minutes for just as long.

Red Robin : Fine! Check on your phone.

I open up my GPS and start laughing.

Red Robin confused : What's so funny?

Marinette clutching to her stomach : We've been going the wrong way!

°Time skip°

We eventually make it back to the apartment around midnight. Thankfully for me, Tikki and the other kwamis already went to bed and aren't floating around.

Marinette : Thanks for bringing me home.

Red Robin : It's only natural.

I smile at him when I decide to give him some macaroons for his troubles.

Marinette : I'll be right back!

I run into the kitchen and grab a box of macaroons I had left on the counter, before running back to where I had left Red Robin. I hand him the box as he eyes me with a confused look on his face.
