Chapter 17

Marinette's POV :

I'm going back to school tomorrow and I'm kind of worried. I don't know why...

Maybe it's the fear that Chloe will make my life even worse, maybe it's that Lila will join in as well... Hopefully not... I've gotten over Adrien, but maybe the fact that I can actually talk to him now will make things worse...

At least I can talk to Tim now...

I'm pulled out of my thoughts when I get a message from Alya.

We're all hanging out at the park this afternoon. Wanna join?

In an hour and a half! See you then!

I put my phone away and get out of bed. I walk to my closet and pick out an outfit, I find particularly fitting. It's light and will keep me cool, yet fashionable. The white top's sleeves cover the bruises Chat gave me during our last encounter from what Tikki told me. I thrifted this top ages ago and barely had to change anything. I put on some nice leather shoes I find go well with the outfit after applying some mascara, eyeliner and lipstick.

I admire myself in the mirror and, although I am still very insecure about my body, I actually look quite pretty today. I tye up my dark blue hair into a small bun and smile, but something is missing...

Maybe some jewelry would fix that!

I look through my old jewelry box and find a necklace I had long forgotten. I had found it in a yardsale one day and absolutely loved it. It has an old pocket watch hanging on a golden chain. It needs to be cleaned, but it's definitely what this outfit needs, so I get to work polishing the old watch while soaking the chain. By the time the whole process is over, it's already time to go.

I put the necklace on, grab my purse 1nd take a mirror pic for Tim, before running to the park. As soon as I get there, I find Alya, Nino, Adrien and Lie-la.

Marinette : Hi guys!

Alya, Nino, Adrien and Lila : Hi!

Lie-la is holding into Adrien like her life depends on it. I look at his face and, of course, notice the discomfort, but also some bandages.

Marinette : what happened to you?

He scratch the back of his head and instantly flinches, regretting his action.

Adrien : Nothing much... I fell off my bed and got a concussion a few days ago... It's still a little sore.

Marinette : You poor thing!

Adrien : On the plus side, I can't model for my father for two weeks, so I've got more free time!

Lila tugging at his arm : I was looking forward to our photo shoot and Friday, but I guess it's actually best this way, since I'm going to Italy tonight and won't be back before the next holidays.

Adrien gives her a nervous smile in response. Not wanting to make Lie-la annoyed, I go over to Alya.

Marinette : So... What are we doing?

Alya : First of all, girl, you look gorgeous today!

Marinette : Thank you!

Alya : I wanted to interview Lila about Ladybug and Chat Noir's relationship and what Ladybug's reaction was to finding out that Chat was left unconscious on the Eiffel Tower, since you know, Lila is her best friend and they share everything!
