Suddenly I looked up to see one big-looking Griffin appear in front of my cage. He looked tough like he was made of nails.
"Young She-Dragon, come with me." He said. I walked out of my cage and did what he instructed me to do. But why did he call me a She-Dragon? Only creatures from way back in time called someone that.
As we walked away from the twig cages and the twig prison, I looked to see if I could see Mira. I couldn't see her cage and so I kept walking.
"Keep walking, Dragon." Said the Griffin. He was walking behind me so when I stopped to see if Mira was anywhere in sight he got frustrated. I didn't want to die without saying goodbye to Mira so I obeyed and kept walking.
The Griffin Empire was in a fairly large forest. Every Griffin's nest was as large as can be and was made from twigs (like the twigs from the cages) and a railing around it made from wood. One nest, however, was more of a castle, with the whole object surrounded by gold, diamonds, and all sorts of treasures. I figured that the large nest belonged to King Attis. There were even large bridges that went from one nest to the other around a whole group of trees.
As we walked on one of the bridges, I noticed that in the middle of the whole empire, kind of like a community gathering area, a few animals that consisted of three different species of monkey, had been tied up above the trees. Below those trees, was a pond full of black caimans and what seemed to be some paranfish or whatever Glaze called them. I watched as the three creatures struggled to get loose.
"My Lord, please let us go. We tried to bring you back the gold, but that boa constrictor tried to attack us...again." One monkey said. King Attis stood from his castle against the railing he had around it, just watching.
"No more excuses monkeys. Every time I give you a job you complain or lie. I gave you one job, ONE JOB, and that was to bring me back the gold from that Gorilla. And since you monkeys are known for being thieves I bet were trying to take it for yourself, weren't you?" Attis scolded.
"No sir, we were going to bring it to you, but she got in the way." The monkey looked over at one very large snake. The snake was a darkish brown color with black leopard-looking spots across her back.
"Well, sssssssometimesssss I'd like a taste of monkey." She hissed and licked her lips.
"ENOUGH." Both the monkeys and the snake looked frightened. I even jumped myself. "I have heard enough of you monkeys. Juno, did you attack those monkeys while they were searching?" Attis asked.
"I did ssssssir, but I didn't know they were doing their job. Pleasssse forgive me." She said sounding innocent. I think Attis believed her.
"See King? She tried to hurt us." Said one monkey.
"It was only an accident," Attis said as Juno wrapped herself around his neck while he grinned. "She would never hurt you on purpose."
"WHAT. SHE TRIED TO KILL US." said a monkey
"Me? Never." She hissed with a grin. "I would never betray King Attis." I think I knew who King Attis' favorite was.
"Cut the ropes," Attis ordered. "It's about time we feed those caimans."
"What no sir, please, we were going to bring you the gold. I promise. We are telling the truth" The monkeys grunted in fear and frustration.
"I said cut those ropes," Attis shouted. The monkey's still made noise.
"Yes my Lord." One of the griffins said then he took his claw and swung at the rope holding the monkeys. Suddenly the three monkeys fell into the water screaming, only to be ripped into shreds. I watched in horror as I felt that Mira and I were going next.
