Chapter 42

Matt's POV

"I-I'm what? But I've never-" and that's when it hit her.

Jessie.

She looked at me with worry in her eyes. They filled with tears.

The doctor looked confused, as if she expected us to be all cheerful. I guess she didn't know that Sophia was violated.

"Can we have a moment please?" I asked her.

"Certainly." She replied and left.

I held Sophia in my arms tight, doing everything in my power to comfort her.

"This can't be happening.." She slowly said under sniffles.

"It's going to be okay.."

"No it's not.. How is that even possible? I've only had sex once and it was forced." She said, more like shouted.

"I don't know babe, I guess it is possible."

I wasn't sounding very comforting but I was just as shocked as she was. I didn't know what to do.

"How would they know that I'm pregnant? It only happened a few weeks ago-"

"They can tell babe, they took a lot of tests for that kind of stuff. Most of the doctors know what happened, they had to check for stuff like that."

She started sobbing into my chest, and all I could do was hold her and tell her everything was going to be alright.

"Matt.. I don't know what to do. I'm only sixteen, I can't be a mother."

I looked at the love of my life directly in the eyes, and I could see nothing but worry and hurt. Sophia has always been a strong person, and I'm not used to seeing her like this.

"Matt?"

"Yes sweetheart?"

"Is this still forever?"

"What?"

"You told me that you wanted to be with me forever. But I don't want this to change your mind.. If I'm pregnant and going to be raising a baby, I don't blame you for not wanting to stay with me."

I was in a loss for words. This was all happening so fast. I can't picture a young girl like Sophia having a baby.

That's when I realized I was sitting there in pure silence, Sophia looking at me and waiting for an answer. She assumed she wasn't getting one, so she started sliding her forever ring off.

"I'm sorry Matt.. This is my fault." She said as the tears soaked her cheeks. She handed me the ring and looked away.

"Sophia?"

"Yes"

"We're in this together.. Forever." I pushed the ring back onto her finger, and pressed my lips against hers.
