I liked the idea of Daisuke's design. A scrawny, weak looking mangaka who mostly focuses on making Manga and is a bit antisocial despite having a big heart that aches to make friends. But I feel like it's not enough for Danganronpa. So I heavily revamped his design. I kept the bowl cut but I added a bit more detail so it wasn't just an orb on his head. I kept the gloves headphones, and bag as well. The main thing I changed was his uniform. You see, his uniform was meant to reference Yugi Muto's uniform but I decided to parallel it more by opening up his jacket and adding the choker. He also references Jojo parts three to five with his pins. And he actually has the same hair and eye color as Saiki from The Disastrous Life of Saiki. I honestly wanted to spice his design a bit because he would become the Daily Life and more emotional Protagonist.
Fun Fact(s): Most of his references reference shonen manga... that's about it. He has a very unhealthy habit of working himself until he faints. He really needs to do stuff outside of making and reading manga and to some extent anime. His ghost writing name "Kishira Oda" is referencing a few different Mangaka. He only has two friends and their actually his cousin (TJ) and his younger brother (Chibi) who's the Ultimate Child Prodigy. Finally, I had always planned to have a protag swap in this fanfiction but I was stuck in between Daisuke and Emika. It made more sense for Emika to be a protag in my eyes because I wanted this story to mirror the main line series while also ending with despair winning but Daisuke was the closest with Kanna (Mikoto). It also made more sense for Emika to ask more questions to Kei and hangout with her more so... I decided to have a protag for Daily Life and Deadly Life. DAISUKE means "great helper" which references how he's kind of a more emotional and supportive character to Emika during Deadly Life. Hato means (ha) "feathers" combined with (to) meaning "soar, fly" It also roughly translates to pigeon. He can also be considered a "Messenger Pigeon" sort of... yeah.
Backstory Synopsis: From a fairly young age, he had a love of Manga, Anime, and various other fictional stories. He often was in his own world as he doodled. Soon his doodles became fanfiction or fan comics. He often got in trouble in school for not paying attention and doodling on his papers. His parents were tough on him and didn't allow his to draw at home. This only worsened the issue as he still spent all his time drawing at school. At first, his peers were impressed with his stories and art but slowly got tied of it. They started to ignore him as some began to bully him. He sought out stories to fill the void in his heart, unfortunately his parents took away his comfort as he soon began to close his heart... that was until the day his younger brother was born... or more specifically, his talent. His brother was a young genius who at the age of 8, he already had the intelligence of an average high schooler. Soon his brother's genius grew and grew, soon his parents began to ignore him. He was now able to be free to do what he wanted to do with no intervention. He eventually made his first manga and submitted it to publish it. This began his career as he began to focus all his time to manga (he even dropped out of high school). He took on his ghost writing name Kishira Oda and he never looked back. He often was taken care of by his cousin and younger brother because of his bad habits but with his Manga, he's able to fill the void... at least... some what... Even though he loves making manga, the only one that seem to be successful are the action or action adjacent ones. Basically, his characters were kinda... basic? I struggle to find the proper words for it. Due to his lack on interactions with real people, his social skills and character's suffer. He really just wants to improve his characters and improve his social life. His dream, like most characters like this, is to make 100 friends and make a slice of life, comedy manga about it.
