The sun gleamed in our eyes as we walked through the outskirts of the city, nothing much was out here except for hills and fields. He was running around searching for this flying machine like my life depended on it, excited, while Red Son stayed walking, arms crossed as his eyes searched the area.
"Why're you so hyperactive, noodle boy? Please, slow down." Red scoffed after a moment, looking to me with judging eyes.
I slow down with a huff, looking to him, "I really want to see what you're building before your scary dad comes! Wouldn't he be looking for you?"
Red looks away, "Maybe. I don't know. My mother, surely, but I made sure they knew I was okay before coming out here," Red's eyes scanned someplace ahead, and his eyes widened. He disappeared in a flame.
A 'wh' noise came from my mouth and I looked around helplessly, "Red?!" I called, soon hearing a yell behind me. I turned to see the wrecked ship, Red standing next to it and walking around.
I ran over as fast as I could, staring at the mechanism in awe. "Woah, you built this all yourself?"
Red nodded, not caring as I ran around it and started asking a zillion questions. I quieted down when Red hopped on board the flying machine. It was stuck the ground almost half way from the crash into the grassy lands, still smoking the sloghtest. It looked like it had already blown up at some point last night, so I wasn't worried as I climed on and went over to Red.
He had been burning away at some land the ship was stuck in, flaming red hair flowing in the slight gust of wind blowing today. I really liked his hair, it was mesmerizing, the way it turned to fire when he was mad and at will.
"What're you doing?" I fanned away some smoke, coughing quietly.
"The engine that blew out last night is in the dirt here."
I squint, but I could just barely see half of a wing, like the one on our ship. "I could break the ground." I blurted.
Red immediately stopped and looked up at me, giving me a weird look. "Excuse me?"
I grab out my staff and twirl it with ease, "With my power, I could easily break through that dirt!" I replied proudly, a grin on my face. "With a slight chance of me completely destroying the wing." I pause, the red staff slowing halting, "Errr- I see my falter there." I half-laugh.
Red rolls his eyes and shakes his head, looking back to the ground. "I burnt the ground just- try to lightly hit it with the staff."
Red moves out of the way and I nod, stepping up and lifting the staff. It enlarged slightly when I brought it down into the ground. It cracked beneath it and then crumbled, leaving the wing engine dirty with dirt but clear of view.
I laugh and put the staff away, looking to Red who actually looked a little proud in me. I step away and he kneels over, opening a hatch to show a bunch of machine. "I've never been good at this machine stuff." I shrug, "My staff just builds monkie mech and Sandy builds the other stuff." I place my hands on my knees and bend over Red to watch.
"I was wondering who built all your stuff. It is very nice." Red admits, hands smoking as he messed with the wing's machinery.
"Yeah, Sandy is great!" I exclaim, then turn away to glance around at the huge red ship, hints of orange all around. "I like the color scheme." I walk away to the pilot's pit, glancing in the window. My monkey instincts didn't allow me to fall from the way the ship was tilted, somehow. I was grateful for that.
I run my hand along the metal then hopped on top of the cockpit, glancing around the area around us. It was silent and peaceful except for Red's whispers to himself about the machinery. I look at him for a moment, scratching my head and fixing my hair.
It was several minutes later when Red spoke up, shouting, "Hey, can you look in the cockpit for a toolbox?"
I come out of my trance and nod, "Yeah, sure!" I hop down and struggling to walk up to the door, having to break the lock to even get in. I walk in and start searching the small compartments till I find it, grabbing it.
Suddenly a harsh rumble to the Earth sent me falling into the millions of buttons on the control pannel, I yelped in pain, back cracking against the metal. Several more noises of crashing into the earth sounded as I sat up, groaning as I rubbed my back.
The tools were all over the floor and I rushed to gather them all up, then heard talking out side. Red was talking to someone. He sounded panicked and stressed.
When I walked out it smelt of missile and smoke. Turns out, when I fell, I launched a ton of them into the earth from those buttons. Turning my head, I saw a huge demon, shrieking almost in surprise as my first ever enemy is standing right there in front of us with a disappointed expression.
The demon bull king himself was glaring down at his wounded son, smoke emitting from his nose as he huffed in annoyance. The fire demon's hair was lit as he rambled.
DBK's eyes looked to me, and I flinched, accidentally slipping doen the tilted machine and falling right into Red's legs, and he toppled down on top of me as well.
"Noodle boy!" Red shrieked and scrambled up, hair staying lit, "Agh, shit! Father, something went wrong last night and this- peasant helped me!"
I groan in pain from the fall, sitting up. DBK loomed over me, still disapproving of his son's actions. I made a face of uncertainty, head turning to look up at Red. "'Peasant?' I help you and you call me a peasant??" I groan sadly, "Wow, Red!"
"Red Son! My name is Red Son!"
"Redd," I emphasize, rolling my eyes. I hopped up and brushed myself off.
The bull snorted. "You helped my son?"
I look up to DBK and nod, "I found him bleeding out. You should be glad." I smile greetingly, even though my heart is pounding at my chest like it wanted to run away. I did want to run away.
DBK looks to his grumbling son who finally extinguished his hair, fixing it. Red looked back to the two.
"Let me see it, son."
Red seemed confused for a moment, then moved aside his jacket and lifted his shirt to show the bandage that probably needed to be rewrapped already.
Red drops his shirt and jacket, looking to his father.
"I'll help you get this back, but please do not sneak out and get hurt again. You scared your mother half to death." the bull king easily lifted up the ship with us in it. We stumbled and I yelped. Once we were up in the king's hand he started walking, leaving behind the charred land from my accidental missile launch.
I sigh, looking to Red Son who looked a little upset. I walk over and place a hand comfortingly to his arm, "Everything alright, Red?"
He startles a little then looks to me. There was a small bit of sparkle to his eyes. He nods. "Everything is fine, noodle boy." he pauses, then looks away, nudging off my hand. "Sorry about the peasant thing."
I shake my head and laugh. "It's okay! Completely forgotten." I smile widely, Red looking back to me in silence.
A very small smile spread across his face along with the sparkle to his eye.
Oh, what a wonderful sight.
