The shadow emerged, microphone in his ear to speak to his comrades. He was near some plants, mostly dying from having no clean air, but he was there to watch, not judge the flowery.
We couldn't see anything of course, we being me and the Monkey King, but I knew what it looked like and Wukong; I actually don't know about him.
We had planned, then rested for the next day. It was gloomy this morning, we knew was was going to happen soon and we dreaded it. We anticipated the spy mission, but only one of us got to go. It saddened me actually, but I knew Macaque was more powerful and it'd be dangerous For me to go again. My body ached from recent fights, I was weak, yet so powerful. I am young, after all.
-
"I've got eyes on them." I spoke into the small chip in one of my ears, whispering.
I hear a scoff from probably Wukong.
"Duh, now pay attention with those stupid ears of yours."
Yep, definitely Wukong.
I sigh and am tempted to mute them, but my ears are strong enough to at least tune out Wukong's annoying bickering, gladly Red Son wasn't as talkative as usual.
I stare, seeping in the shadows. I edge a little closer but not much, trying to at least see what they are doing. I can hear him but my eyes aren't as good as my six ears.
"...attacking him won't be too hard, My Lady. I will achieve the staff from whichever one of them has it." Mk spoke, voice ominous in the room, echoing against the walls.
LBD turned to him, nodding. "I know, Mk."
"They'll never hurt me, I mean, I've beaten Macaque several times... and Monkey King?" He scoffs, not seeming to have lost his talkative mood after being corrupted. Why was he so quiet around us? LBD looked terribly annoyed. "Monkey King will not lay a finger on me. Or any hurtful touch."
LBD groans and goes back to her ritual. "Please leave me be, you child."
Mk stares in shock then grunts and walks away, sitting on the ground with his arms crossed. The blue from his eyes fades to a white, he is calm and away from all the magic.
I scoff and whisper, "Mk hasn't changed except for the murderous being he has become. He..- wants the staff."
"We know that," Wukong speaks into their mic, loudly. I flinch and mess with the microphone in my ear. "We'll need to switch between each other with the staff, you have the staff right now, don't you, Macaque?"
I gulp and nod to no one. "Yep, I do. In an ear, like you."
"Keep it there till you are back, do not let Mk see it if you are caught."
I chuckle. "I would never get caught on a stealth mission!"
I can just feel the other monkey roll his eyes at my words. "Mhm, right."
"God can you two stop arguing?" Red Son spoke up and Monkey King laughed.
"Yeah, alright bud."
Things go silent and I continue through the shadows, up the grassy wall and to the ceiling. I can hear the roaring of cars above me, shaking me a little. They're loud as hell and I want to move as quick as possible but i stay where I am to watch further around.
Mayor is currently brain dead since all he is is a possessed being, Mk still where he had plopped down, and LBD with her plans, still in the form of a magic ritual. My ears hurt being overwhelmed from whispers that are always around the Bone Demon beings. Why does it have to do that?
Suddenly Mk sits up and glanced around and i silently move to the ground more in the Mayor's side, cursing under my breath. My surroundings sometimes move if they can be when I pass through them, and I must've made that mistake.
Mk hops up and walks along the wall, grazing his hand into the leaves growing from vines. His hand stopped after being stopped by a thick one and his hand drops to his side. He looks ahead and I swear he's staring right at me.
I stop breathing to be extra sure, frightened he will hear me. Just because I am hidden does not mean I cannot be heard. Plus, my face emits a purple glow that is against my will, so he will definitely be seeing that.
I dip into a small plant and stay there, still as hell and begging the idiots will not speak to me all of a sudden.
The Gods do not listen to me.
"You went really quiet, Macaque." Wukong grumbled, impatiently.
I snarl, "SSH." I shush him quietly as the monkey boy walks closer, taking a glance towards the brain dead Mayor before back to my position.
He is really something, being able to detect me in the shadows. I have to give him that.
He swats at the bush and I emerge, up and attacking swiftly like a cat. He does not expect it, my claws raking him before I fall into my shadow portal beside him. He reaches, but it closes as LBD yells.
-
Macaque steps through a purplish shadow on the wall and it closes. He snatched the mic from his ear and throws it onto the dining table where we are seated. He throws himself into a chair. "Didnt get much outta that, huh?"
Wukong gets up, his tail lashing as he paces. "You hurt him."
Macaque looks to him confusingly, scoffing, "Are you serious, Wukong? Arguing after I risk myself going into her lair?!"
Wukong turns angrily, barring his canines. "Dont fucking speak to me like that! You didn't have to hurt him that much, what if it was deep? You could've... knocked him out!"
"So you are okay with me knocking him out next time?"
"No!"
I groan and cover my ears as they bicker non stop, thoughts rushing to my head about what they could possibly be planning with such little time.
They wanted the staff with Mk, we all know that, and Mk's speciality is the Monkie Mech. Is she planning on taking hold of the Monkie Mech and making it much more powerful than it already was? That had to be it. That's exactly why they needed the staff.
I hear light footsteps and the bickering stops. I reluctantly take my hands off my ears, realizing how much I do that nowadays. I glance to them, whom were staring beyond me. Macaque broke into a smile. I turn, and there stand my mother.
I shoot up from my chair, lips parted in shock. "Mom-" the chair screeches as I move and dash around the table.
She smiles so wide, and I crash into her arms. I hear her groan and release her from how tightly I had her at first, whispering an apology as i seep into her arms. "I am so sorry... so, so sorry."
"Darling, it is okay. It has happened when you were a little boy." Her fingers go through my hair and I cry, hard. Her other hand soothes me, rubbing circles into my back. This makes me forget about all the times when she abused me. Verbally. She had never lain a hand on me .
My father walks up behind my mom and he's smiling too, at her. I know he still does not like me anymore. He isn't smiling at me. He hates me.
I choke into even more tears and my hands clench her clothes back.
"I will do better as your son, I promise."
