43 Waking Up

Slowly opening his eyes, Henry could hear the noises of a hospital. Those beeps from the monitors were of no help with the throbbing in his head. No one was there with him, but he could tell he was at a hospital.

Well, a very luxurious hospital. The walls were not sterile white. The bed was very comfortable. He noticed a device that he could use to call for help. There were flowers and plants in the room. The seating looked comfortable for visitors.

He noticed the control panel beside his bed, which allowed him to access music, the internet, and tv. There was also a call button to request for help. His cell phone was somehow undamaged from the explosion in a charging port.

Just before he pressed the button for help, Amelie entered with a smile and a glass of ice water.

"Ah, Henry, you are awake." Amelie approached setting the

water on the table next to the bed.

"My head is pounding. Where am I, and is everyone ok?"

Henry started to ramble off questions.

"I knew you would have a lot of questions. I can get you help with the headache. Your injuries were severe, and you almost lost your legs. The injuries to your head included needing over 100 stitches and some brain damage.

No one died, but you and In-Su nearly did. As to where you are, well, you are in a very private safe house owned by the Quinns."

"Is In-Su here also?" Henry asked, grimacing in pain. "Wait.. brain damage?"

"Yes, he is. Now let me get you something for your pain. Doctors believe that the damage was not permanent. You are healing well." Amelie answered, turning around to head out of the room.

"Thank you," Henry mumbled.

In-Su wandered into Henry's room as Amelie left, "It's good to see you awake. We all were so worried. You seemed to take the brunt of the explosion."

Henry smiled, "I'm so confused."

"Right?! We are in some facility I had no idea existed." In-Su took a seat by Henry's bed.

"I barely remember the explosion. Amelie mentioned we almost died?" Henry asked.

"Amelie sent me here to talk with you and try to explain what's happened." In-Su fidgeted nervously.

"I don't understand. I thought no one died. What are you so worried about?" asked Henry, slowly sitting up as he used the bed's controls to raise his head and back.

In-Su, whose hand was in the air, dismissively explained, "That's correct. There are just other things that well... It's hard to discuss."

Just then, In-Su's phone buzzed with a call from Castor. "Excuse me, I need to take the call."

"Hey Boss, I was just about to talk to Henry; he is awake," In-su said, answering the call.

On the other end, Castor replied, "Perfect, why not put me on speaker so I may speak with both of you."

"Yes, will do." In-su set his phone down on a side table, set it to speaker, and turned on the option video.

"Thank you, In-Su; Hello Henry, It's good to see you awake. I wish that I could be there with you. However, we will have to rely on video for security reasons now." Castor explained.

"I have so many questions, sir," Henry said as Amelie (who had quietly entered the room) administered an injection into his arm.

Amelie nodded, and as quietly as she entered the room, she left.
