71 Solving Puzzles
Gerald and Allen had breakfast with Karla the following day. The tension around Karla was gone, and they treated her more as a friend than her guards.
Adya had reached out to Allen and needed to know what to do with Grayson. Allen took the opportunity to check out Karla's story and to try and locate Jana, her sister.
Gerald knew to leave Arryn and Castor alone. On the other hand, Allen wanted to talk to them. Fortunately, the men decided to be patient.

The two Lovers had slept, holding each other close. Arryn clung tight, not wanting to let go of Castor. Castor felt safe and sound curled up in Arryn's arms. They slept in late, waking up to room service to bring coffee and breakfast.
Castor stood in the shower letting the water soothe his Muscles and mind. He was trying not to worry about letting Arryn down.
"Are you almost done?" Arryn asked, peeking in.
"Yes, can you hand me a towel, please?" Castor answered, turning off the shower.
Arryn handed Castor a white towel embossed with the hotel's logo, "Thank you, I will be right out; I could use some coffee." Castor caught the towel and began to dry off.
"Coffee's ready. I'll be out here waiting," Arryn smiled and sat at a small table, pouring coffee from a carafe on the table.
Castor stepped into the room wrapped in a robe. Arryn slid a cup of coffee to an empty seat.
"Thank you, I'm feeling more like myself again," Castor explained, taking a seat.
Arryn, smoking, offered Castor a cigarette. With a slight grin, Castor accepted the cigarette.
"We can take some time off before trying to figure out the compass," Arryn suggested.
"I'm doing better and want to start on this right away," Castor said, enjoying the coffee.
Arryn was still concerned that Castor maybe only saying this to please him, "I love you, and your wellbeing is more important than rushing anything. We can slow down."
"Thank you, Arryn; I appreciate your concern. I want to do this. We don't need to wait," Castor reached out and touched Arryn's hand.
Arryn smiled, relieved by Castor's torch. "Thank you, my Luv."
"While I get dressed, do you want to bring out the compass and look at it together?" Castor asked, putting out a cigarette butt.
"Of course, let's go into the living area of our suite and work on this," Arryn suggested.
-
Arryn gently placed the compass on the coffee table and sat on the floor next to it. Upon entering the room, Castor felt relaxed. He still struggled with memories of being held captive by Draeven. Seeing Arryn calmed Castor's fears. He sat down beside Arryn on the floor. Arryn leaned over and kissed Castor.
"Mmm... I love you, Arryn. I can't thank you enough for saving me. I held on to the hope you would show up, and you did," Castor blushed.
"I love you and would do anything to be there for you," Arryn hugged Castor.
The two men took a moment to appreciate the quiet embrace.
"Castor, are you feeling well enough to take a closer look at the compass? I won't be disappointed if you aren't," Arryn asked, holding Castor's hand.
A smile formed on Castor's lips, "Thank you, yes, I want to do this," Castor reached out, picked up the ornate box, and opened up the lid. Inside was a compass.
The arrow wasn't moving; it just sat there.
The symbols appeared to move to change their shape. He narrowed his eyes and looked closely at the markings.
"What's lost is found. What's desired is shown," appeared before Castor's eyes.
He tried to show Arryn, but nothing had changed for him. He still couldn't understand the symbols.
"Oh, there's a warning," Castor said, "Let me see here what it says, 'Know your motive and intention. Hormel will follow!"
"Lucifer believed in me. He said I could use the sword. and avoid succumbing to its power," Arryn explained to Castor, "I believe in you Castor, your compassion drew me in. It's a strength in you."
Castor closed his eyes and let out a sigh of relief.
"There's this energy emitting from the compass. It's coursing through me."
"Maybe you should put it down," Arryn Suggested out of caution.
Nodding in agreement, Castor closed the lid and set the compass back on the coffee table.
"I think I understand what I will need to do to get the compass to reveal the In-Between. When you are ready, we should do this."
"I keep thinking that we should be better prepared. However, I can't come up with anything other than trying and learning from the results."
"Are you as nervous as I am?" Castor asked, holding Arryn's hand.
"Yes, I am," Arryn kissed Castor's forehead.
