52 The Ritual

Candles lit up the dark cave. Incense burned on the ancient altar that Arryn had made. On the iron bookstand, a tomb was on it and opened to a spell to invoke an Angel. Herbs and precious stones were carefully placed on the altar.

Arryn and Castor stood at the altar, ready to begin. Castor handed over an ancient bone athame. Arryn took it from Castor with a nod of his head. Raising up the athame and placing it against the palm of his left hand.

"With this sacrifice, we invoke you," Arryn sliced the palm and offered a hand, letting blood drip upon the altar, "Oh Morningstar, hear our prayer. We humbly call upon you, Lucifer' bearer of light.'"

A beam of light shot through the top of the cave from the altar, miraculously shining brightly into the Sky. Castor looked to Arryn and whispered," I think it worked."

Arryn nodded, squeezing his cut hand. "I do believe it worked. Now we wait."

-----------------------

A beam of light pierced through the Sky catching Michael's attention. Azrael had to keep his word to help and left Michael alone. Michael watched the light and began to wonder what Arryn was up to. He could feel the energy in the air change and knew Arryn was invoking an Angel. A part of her heart felt sad that the prayer wasn't for her to come. Once again, Michael would have to wait along the sidelines.

Suddenly from the beam, there was a shining star. It was Lucifer; he was the One being invoked. Michael froze, and her heart began to race.

She thought out loud, "Why is Arryn asking for Lucifer?"

The cave lit up from Lucifer's Silver Wings. He stood at the front of the cave with silver lavender hair flowing down past his shoulders. His eyes were the same lavender as his hair.

"You dare invoke me," Lucifer spoke, not hiding his annoyance.

Arryn stepped forward, and Lucifer pulled his wings into his back, "I apologize for bothering you. However, you are my only hope."

Castor stayed a step behind Arryn, trying to not appear scared.

Lucifer noticeably relaxed as he looked Arryn up and down, "Of course, that's what everyone says. However, I sense you are different."

Lucifer was used to fools vying for his attention. They believed the myths and lies about being evil. No Lucifer was a Fallen Angel because he cared about mortals and chose to fight for the right of Angels to live among humans.

"Lucifer, may I call you Lucifer?" Arryn asked with his head bowed.

"Yes, you may as can your young one there in the shadows" a smile appeared upon Lucifer's lips that put everyone at ease. "Should we have a seat?"

Arryn, relieved, nodded, "Oh, yes, please."

Michael tried to hover in close enough not to be noticed. She wasn't able to see or hear much of anything. She was relieved that there didn't seem to be any fighting.

Michael couldn't imagine why Arryn would need to invoke Lucifer. She was both confused and concerned. She wished she could get closer and hear what they were talking about.

------------------

"Before we begin, I sense another is nearby. We should invite her here with us."

Both Arryn and Castor looked at each other confused and grasped their hands to alleviate their nerves.

"Do not be afraid; I know her well, and she means no harm." Lucifer nodded and stood. Walking to the edge of the cave, Lucifer spotted Michael in the distance.

Michael froze, realizing that she had been noticed. Lucifer stepped off the edge of the cave and flew to Michael. Michael's heart was racing as Lucifer hovered in front of her with his shining smile.

"You aren't doing such a fine job at hiding, my dear." Lucifer winked.

"Gabriel and Azrael informed me there was trouble down here on Earth..." Michael flushed, embarrassed that she was caught.

"I would appreciate it if you would join me and learn what Arryn and Castor need so much that they called upon me." Lucifer tilted his head, giving Michael a flirtatious grin.

"You still are a cheeky punk. However, the curiosity is eating me up inside. Yes, I will go along with you." Michael decided with ease.

53 Flashback: An Angelic Reunion

The battle had been over long ago. Angels and Demons alike were able to visit earth and live among humans. There was still a divide between the Angels who fought to seal the opening and those who wanted there to be freedom. Those angels were cast out and became known as the fallen ones.

There was a time when Michael and Lucifer worked side by side, and they had also formed a close bond and cherished one another. Michael was shocked and felt betrayed when Lucifer chose the opposing side. Lucifer felt strongly that Angels shouldn't only observe unless called upon for duty. He believed that Angels deserved freedom and were not under the Deities' control.

He explained to Michael that they were mere pawns, slaves to the Deities. Mortals had the freedom to live their lives as they wished. Michael believed that the consequence from bad decisions would be the ruin of the Angels. She tried to convince Lucifer of the danger. Yet, Lucifer insisted that the pros of freedom outweigh any consequences that may happen.

After the war, those who had become known as Fallen were not wanted back in the heavens. Some managed to return after they renounced the rebellion. Lucifer, however, chose to remain in exile. He felt strongly about the freedom he fought for and was afraid to face Michael.

They had a heated argument the last time Michael and Lucifer had seen each other. Michael never stopped loving Lucifer, no matter how hurt she was. Years had passed, and one day Michael feeling lonely and nostalgic, went out to look for Lucifer. Lucifer had made his home in the underworld.

When Michael learned of Lucifer's whereabouts, she sent word through Dagon, a fallen Angel who maintained contact with the others who remained in exile.

Dagon agreed to help Michael and went to Lucifer.

"Brother, it has been a long time since I've seen you" Lucifer approached Dagon.

They were in a lavish room where Lucifer preferred to meet with others. There was comfortable seating and ornate furnishings.

Lucifer greeted Dagon with a firm embrace. Dagon was relieved Lucifer was welcoming. "Thank you for seeing me, and I apologize it has been so long. "Dagon returned the friendly embrace.

"Come, Come have a seat. And tell me what brings you here." Lucifer gestured towards a chair.

Dagon nervously cleared his throat, taking a seat," I was asked to bring you a message from Michael."

Lucifer looked down, trying to hide his emotions, "what is this message she has for me?"

Dagon passed Lucifer a slip of paper, "she wants to see you."

Expressionless, Lucifer read the slip of paper, "Let Michael know, I'll be there."

Lucifer stood up to leave. Stopping midstep, he turned to Dagon, "I have business to take care of. I'll have someone see you out. And... don't be a stranger."

Dagon sat there watching Lucifer leave, wondering why he had reacted as such.

Michael waited for Lucifer. Their meeting spot was on an uninhabited island in the pacific ocean. There was a cabana on the beach with a dual lounger, table, and chairs. Refreshments were set out by Michael for them to partake from.

Michael's heart skipped a beat when she saw Lucifer approaching in the distance. All her worry that he wouldn't show up melted away. She grew nervous and wondered what he would have to say, but it didn't matter. Lucifer was here, and that was more than she expected.
