"For your next assignment," Jardyn, the Saturday school tutor, told us, "over the summer holidays I want you to interview someone in your preferred area. You get exactly six weeks to do it and you are allowed to travel if you have to. Costs will be paid by the institute if you need it."

At this news I got insanely excited. I was definitely going to ask All Time Low if I could interview them and a few other bands at Warped Tour.

"You need to hand in a video of the interview and your final article," Jardyn went on. "Hand it in any later than the due date and it's an automatic fail, although you should already know this. Class dismissed."

I ran out to my car quickly and headed off to work excitedly. When I got there, Ben was standing at the counter with Jack standing in front of him. Neither of them looked too good. "Hey, boys," I smirked.

"Invie," Ben moaned, "can you be quiet."

"Sorry," I whispered.

"Sorry about last night," Jack apologised.

"It's all good," I reassured him. "Quite entertaining actually."

Jack chuckled.

"So how was class?" Ben asked.

"It was good," I replied. "Got told our new assignment today which is to take six weeks to interview someone and if I need to travel they can pay for it."

"Who are you going to interview?" Ben questioned.

I turned to Jack. "I was hoping I could stow away on your guys bus and interview you guys and maybe a couple of other bands as well," I said.

"I'm sure that would be all good," Jack smiled. "I know the guys would be up for it, I'd just have to ask management."

"Oh my god, thank you," I squealed making both the boys cringe because of their hangovers. "Sorry," I chuckled.

"Good thing we just hired someone new yesterday," Ben said.

"And you didn't tell me?" I questioned.

"I hired her just before I went to Alex's and I was too drunk to tell you last night," Ben said with a laugh. "She's starting tomorrow," he continued, "and I want you to show her the ropes."

"Okay cool," I shrugged.

I was watching Orphan Black while cuddled up in bed when my phone started ringing. I checked my caller ID which just read Unknown Number.

"Hello?" I answered after pausing the show.

"Invidia, is that you?" a voice I hadn't heard in four years answered.

"No, you've got the wrong number," I lied to my so called mother.

"Oh, please, Invidia," she sighed, "I'm your mother, I know your voice anywhere."

"What do you want," I hissed.

"You to come home," my mother said, "I want to see you one last time before I die."

"And why should I do that?" I questioned harshly. "You called me a worthless bitch before kicking me out."

"But that was four years ago, sweetie," she said innocently, "surely you can forgive your dying mother. I have cancer."

"There is no way in hell that I will ever forgive you," I shouted down the phone, "I don't care if you're dying and you aren't my mother. Not anymore." With that I hung up the phone and threw it against my bedroom wall. Suddenly every emotion my mother made me feel came rushing back. I needed someone to keep an eye on me before I reverted back to my old ways of dealing with it. I got out of bed, picked up my phone and called Luke.

"What's up, Invie?" he answered.

"Can you come over please?" I asked shakily.

"I'll be there in five," he told me before hanging up.

I put my phone on my bedside table and climbed back into bed. I couldn't hold back the pain anymore and soon my body was overcome by body-wracking sobs. The words 'worthless' and 'bitch' were running through my head constantly and I soon felt like I was 17 again, all alone and unloved. That was until I felt strong arms wrap themselves around me.

"Hey, hey, hey," Luke said soothingly, "what happened?"

"Th-th-that fucking bitch called me," I stammered through tears.

"What did she say?" Luke asked.

"Sh-she wanted me to go visit her because she's dying."

"So, are you upset because she's dying or upset because she contacted you?" Luke questioned.

"That she contacted me and had the nerve to ask me to visit her," I answered angrily. Luke was rubbing my back calming me down a little the way only he could.

"Right, sorry, stupid question," Luke mumbled.

I looked up at him. He was biting his bottom lip and looking down. "It's okay," I told him. "You would be upset if your mum was dying, its a normal response."

"I hate seeing you this upset," Luke told me as he brushed my hair out of my face. He placed a small kiss on my forehead. I looked up into his blue eyes and felt my heart melt. I didn't know where that had come from. All the time we had been friends and that was the first time I felt anything like that.

"Luke," I whispered before greedily slamming my lips onto his. I was slightly surprised when he kissed me back but happy nonetheless. I didn't know how long we had been making out for but soon our clothes were strewn across my bedroom floor. It was my first time and I was glad it was with him.
