Every child deserves a parent but not every parent deserves a child.

It is said that parental love is one of the basic necessities that a child need. Emotional love and affection.

And yet, not every parent gives that to their child. They ignore and neglect them. Some even abuse their children, whether it's physically, emotionally, or sexually.

It's absolutely awful. How could someone that is supposed to love and care for you causes you harm?

How could they?

And I'm afraid that's how the world is. Parents can't even love their children. Children are our greatest innocence in a world full of cruelty.

Why destroy them? Degrade, belittle, damage, and hurt them in more ways than one. What happened to gentleness, care, and love?

People often say that everything happens for a reason, or it's fate, or destiny. Or perhaps, coincidence.

That a child with awful parents just got the short end of the straw. It's not them. It's never them.

It's our choices. Our choices is why we're where we are right now.

But we always wonder, what if. What if I did this or that. It doesn't matter what you could have done, you didn't and that's that. Move on and focus on now.

It will always be the parent fault, their choices. Their choices reflect on their children. They affect their children. Whether it be physically or emotional. It does.

When Sydney's father became an alcoholic and her mother a drug addicted. Things went from bad to worse, real quickly.

Her father died of alcoholism when she was nine, her mother abandoned her brother and her. Leaving them to fend for themselves. She was nine taking of a three year old.

It was something she was never supposed to do. She was supposed to play with dolls and draw not meddling with the supernatural just to make ends meet.

Not risk her life just so her brother could live a decent life. Having to move to place to place because of the enemies her parents made. Constantly looking over her shoulders.

Her mother would come out if the blue pregnant. And when she gave birth she would abandon the baby before even naming them.

She would pass the responsibility to her daughter. Sydney would name them, take care of medical bills, name raise them.

While her mother would pop out children as if she was the one taking care of them and raising them.

By the time Sydney was 18 she adopted all of her siblings so her mother wouldn't come out of nowhere and try to take them. When she had asked her mother to give up all rights she did but a few months later she came back trying to take them. Just as she predicted.

Her siblings grew up calling her mom, and she never corrected them. She didn't want their illusion of a mother to be fake. To have their hopes up for a mother who didn't give a fuck about them.

She became their mother. So they wouldn't have a deadbeat one.

When she was 16, she had met someone. Who helped her get out of sticky situation. He had offered to help her, protection. In exchange for a few spells which she agreed.

But the agreement was a lie. She was his soulmate and he didn't want to leave her unprotected. She was wary, but eventually she gave in.

They became close, they became each other's person's. Family. He became a fatherly figure to her kids. They called him dad which he didn't mind. Because in a sense he was. He helped her raise them.
