My head was spinning even more as more questions came to mind with no way to find the answers. "Hello...earth to Juniper..." a voice called out softly as I stood outside my class with my head down cast still. "Juniper!" The voice called out only this time much louder. "Ahhhh I don't wanna die!" I screamed out drawing more attention to myself than I would have liked. "What the hell are you on about dude? I was trying to get you to go to class with me."I blinked confused and looked up to see my best friend and school crush, Hunter. Hunter gave me a slightly worried face as he showed me to our next class. I took a deep breath and sighed relaxing. "Sorry I fell asleep in class and had the worst dream yet..." I groaned following him to the next class history. "Wanna talk about it over lunch then?" He asked noticing my wrist as we walked and smiled a little. "Hey see look I told you that the mark would show up soon!" He said smiling as he changed subjects for me to try and ease the tension I had created. "What...oh yeah but I don't get what it means...I've never seen someone with a soulmate mark like this," I told him pulling my arm up to show him the dark black block that showed up on my wrist.
Hunter took a look at my wrist and I swear I've never seen color drain from a person's face so fast. "Hunter? What's wrong? Do you know something about this mark! What's it mean? Do I have a soulmate?" I asked him eagerly as I tried to make out what the look on his face meant as he kept changing his expression and avoided my gaze. "Oh yeah...buddy congrats...you have a soulmate I'm so happy for you!" He said giving him a slightly forced grin as he hurried up his footsteps. "Hey wait no! What does it mean! Hunter stop avoiding me and just tell me! I know you know!" I yelled after him cutting him off as he tried to turn a corner quickly and lose me. "Move out of the way June. I'm gonna be late to class because of you." He said with a lace of anxiety in his voice. "No not until you tell me what this mark means!" I yelled back at him with urgency in my tone. The longer he beat around the bush more anxious the mark began to make me.
Hunter gave me a stern look as he glanced at me and then at the kids walking down the hall. "Look can we can just talk about this later...we really should get to class. I'll tell you all about this at lunch," he said signing as he pushed me aside and walked into class. I agreed to this concluding that I wouldn't get any answers from him if I tried. I glanced at my wrist wondering what the mysterious mark on my wrist was as I followed the other kids in my class went inside and took their seats. "At least next period is lunch so I can finally get some answers..." I muttered to myself taking a seat in the back of the class for history.
I spent most of this class just manly daydreaming and spacing out as the teacher lectured up front. My head was spinning with all this new information that I wasn't quite sure of how to sort out. 'Who was the man from my dreams? Why couldn't I talk to him at times? Was he the same guy who was crying over me? Why did I die? How did I die? Was I gonna die again? Why won't Hunter give me answers and what is this mark?' These were all questions that were running through my head. I was so wrapped up in all that I barely noticed when the bell rang and Hunter had made his way over to my desk. "Alright, a promise is a promise. Meet me up on the roof and I'll tell you what I know..." he said snapping me out of my head as I turned to look up at him. "Oh okay! Thanks, man!" I said giving a worried smile as he avoided my eyes acting stranger than usual and left to get his lunch. I grabbed my books and shoved them into my backpack racing to my locker and hurriedly messing up my combo at least 3 times. "God damn it I hate this thing!" I muttered finally getting the locker open so I could get my lunch and rush upstairs to the roof. I took off running once my food was tucked away in my bag and shoved and pushed my through kids all heading to the cafeteria. "Hey watch it June. Stop running like a psycho!" a boy with frizzy red hair yelled out as I slammed into his shoulder. I wanted to apologize and tell him it wouldn't happen again but I had this sinking feeling in my gut. This feeling kept telling me that if I didn't make it to the roof fast enough Hunter wouldn't be there answer to my questions. I waved an apology instead to him and took off running up 4 flights of stairs to the roof. Slamming the door open I stood there bent over and painting as I tried to catch my breath. "I'm here!" I yelled startling Hunter who was staring out at the town.
Hunter turned to face me with an amused look on his face now. "Did you run all the way here? You could have taken your time you know." He said in a mocking tone as I blushed red and looked away. "Yeah, well we both know you would have dodged the question if I hadn't rushed here," I said shooting back at him as his smile faded again. "Your right... I would have..." He mumbled under his breath along with more words but I couldn't make out the rest. "Right...so what does this mark mean and why are you being so weird?" I asked walking over to him and taking a seat on the ground to eat my sandwich. Hunter sighed and took a seat by me as he fiddled with his fingers. "I've been acting weird...cause I don't know how else to tell you this...the mark on your wrist...well... it means your soulmate killed you in a past life..." He muttered softly looking down. I nearly choked on my sandwich as I looked up at him. "Wait they killed me? Does this mark mean I'm still connected to them then? Are they gonna come find me?" I asked with panic beginning to lace my voice. He must have noticed this because he placed his hand on mine and told me to shut up in a hushed voice. "I don't know anything other than that... but I'm sure you'll be fine so I wouldn't worry too much about it. For now, let's get you a fake soulmate mark before more people see and your parents have a heart attack."
