I made my way back to the table and took a seat to finish my food though at this point I was far too excited to really eat. Glancing at the time I smirked a bit as my judgment once again became dark and clouded. "He should be leaving his house around now...I could take him and hide him away. He would finally be mine..." I whispered grinning to myself.
I pushed up from my seat and grabbed my lunch grinning wider. I think it was the cool autumn breeze that snapped me to my senses this time. The sun was high up slightly hidden by some clouds as it peaked out. I looked around me in a small daze seeing the hedges that divided most of the properties into his small town. "What was I doing just now..." I mumbled lost and confused as I glanced down to get my thoughts. I was holding my lunch bag and my backpack was thrown across my back so I must have been heading to June for school. I started to hope the hedges to not waste time by going around them but lost my footing and face-planted into a fresh pile of dirt. "Omg are you good? Nice face landing!" A voice called out followed by a small snort as they laughed at my epic fail. "Listen, that was a grand entrance and deserves no less than 5 stars!" I said laughing softly as I looked up to see a small freckled face with big grey eyes staring back at me with a wide crooked smile. This boy sounded just like Juniper but looked nothing like him. He had pin-straight brown hair and freckles that covered his body with grey wide eyes that peeked out from under the dark bangs. The juniper from my time had black curly hair that hung on his face and piercing cold blue eyes that could turn anyone to ice. Yet his smile was warmer than the sun itself. "Why are you staring at me like that Hunter? Do I look funny or something?" He asked me as he brushed his bangs out of his face a little and smiled at me holding a hand out.
I felt my heart skip a beat as I took his hand and stumbled to my feet losing my cool composure for a moment. "Oh happy birthday, by the way, June, have you got your mark yet?" I asked avoiding eye contact as I brushed my pants off. June sighed a heavy sigh and shook his head. "No, what about you?" He asked, looking up with a slightly hopeful expression. I knew I should have been honest and said I didn't have one but something in me wouldn't let the words leave my mouth. So I lied to him instead and said "yeah...but it's no big deal." I gave a shrug showing him the scribble on my wrist I had done the day before. His eyes lit up as he looked it over "Woah have you written to them yet?" I was taken aback by the excited expression but shook my head picking up the speed when I noticed the cupcake.
