I blinked for a second trying to figure this all out and take a moment to process it all. "Wait what... a fake mark... Hunter, what are you talking about? Your confusing me and honestly scaring me now. What are you not telling me?" I asked him as the fear and confusion started overwhelming me. I stumbled back and managed to get myself planted on the rooftop floor breathing heavily and shakily as I watched him lean against the fence. Hunter sighed and looked at me pulling himself away from the fence that lined the roof of our school. I followed him with my eyes slowly taking a bite of my sandwich trying to calm my nerves down. He looked over at me and let out a sigh as he took a seat by me slowly. I bit my lip waiting for the silence to swallow me whole if my anxiety didn't beat it to the punch line. Hunter glanced at me staring sharply into my soul and sending shivers down my spine. I took a moment to  catch my breath as I willed my body not to react at a moment like this. It was not the time for daydreaming and falling in love. I mean I just found out my soulmate possibly killed me in my past life and my crush was trying to help me solve this mystery.

I swallowed hard and began to open my mouth to speak when suddenly he broke the silence first. "Okay, I promised I would explain everything and I swear that I will so ask away." He glanced down at his feet for a second shifting them a little with an uneasy vibe about him but quickly forced himself to relax and look me in the eyes once again. I paused at a loss for words as I stared past his shaggy blond hair and got lost in that gorgeous sea of green and brown. "Juniper did you hear me?" His voice rang out to me like an echo but it sounded much more faded and distorted as he reach out. Suddenly the school began to shake under me and I looked up at him with fearful eyes wondering if it was all in my head or if he was feeling it too. Something must have clicked with him because one minute I was sitting on the roof as the school trembled underneath me and the next I was held tightly in his warm embrace. "Hey, you're okay relax... breath...take your time and sort it out in your head first and then you can ask me. I won't run away or hide I promise. It's just you and me against the world right butter cup." He asked his voice warm and soft against my ear as I felt my face heat up more.

I pulled away from his embrace after a few seconds despite really wanting to stay close to him. "S-sorry I don't know what came over me," I said praying that my face wasn't a bright tomato red as he reached out a handout and brushed my cheek gently with a slight chuckle. "Hey, it's fine we all have our moments of weakness. So what did you want to ask me?" He spoke with such confidence but touched me with such gentle care as if he used even the slightest bit of force I would shatter. "Um right...I wanted to ask what exactly you knew about the mark? You know besides the obvious fact that I died and the culprit could have been my soulmate... also would it be possible that soulmate mark couldn't be fully severed but maybe take on a new form?" I asked him pulling myself together as best as I could to look him in the eyes. My heart was racing as it banged against my rib cage like a bird trying to break out of its cage and take flight.

I watched as Hunter smiled softly and pulled his hand away gently tracing the line of my jaw before his hand landed back in his lap. "I told you everything that I know about the mark. Though I have to ask what brought up the question about a soulmates bond?" he raised a brow slightly and leaned in a little closer to my face as He waited for me to answer. I cursed softly under my breath as my heart did another cartwheel and my brain wandered off to different thoughts. 'Why was he teasing me so much? Did he know that I liked him? Does he like me back? Why was he just now flirting with me? What about his soulmate?' A cold touch reached my face again as I was snapped back to reality and came face to face with Hunters now only inches away from mine. "June stop spacing on me butter cup." He smirked softly and leaned in closer like he was going to kiss me but paused lingering there for a second. I felt my heart race faster than it ever had as my face turned so red steam was sure to be coming off my head. His hot breath lingered over my face as he paused savoring the moment. I sat there frozen still unable to think straight or find the words to answer his question despite having the answer already in mind. "I-" was all I could manage as I parted my lips slightly wondering if this was going to happen.

Hutner smiled and then pulled away as if nothing happened without making a move. "You what?" he asked me chuckling softly.  I flushed red in the heat of the moment and shoved him away playfully. "You jerk stop messing around with me and answer my question seriously!" I yelled at him annoyed more so with myself for getting swept up in the heat of the moment than with him for starting it. "Hey relax June Bug! I am taking this seriously I promise! Just explain to me about the bond thing again?" he said laughing up a storm as He leaned back on his hands now seeming much more relaxed than he was earlier. I smiled happily to see he was acting like his old self again and began to explain about the weird dreams I had been having lately. Hunter nodded as he listened in close to what I had to say and paused to think deeply. "Mmmmm that is pretty weird... but are there just memories from your past life that are coming back to you as dreams? I wouldn't look too much into it if I were you." He said as he seemingly dismissed them as if they were nothing with ease. I laughed in envy at how confident he could be about the whole situation but nodded my head. "Okay...Yeah your probably right about that." I said as I began to smile a bit when a new thought popped into my head. "Wait earlier you mentioned giving me a fake mark? What was that all about?" I asked him raising my brow now as It was more turn to ask the questions. Hunter glanced at me now eating his lunch casually as if nothing weird had happened between the two of us.

I raised a brow and motioned for him to explain to me. "Oh right the fake mark! Yeah, I know how to make a fake soulmate mark! It's easy!" He said smiling casually at me as he ate his burrito. My jaw dropped open as the comment fully sunk into my head. "I'm sorry what?" I asked him dumbfounded at how he could say something so crazy and then just eat his lunch like normal. "How?!" I yelled at him this time inching closer to him and taking the top position. He smiled and leaned in close to my ear as he whispered. "I'll tell you a little secret butter cup."
