Ayana
I sat in my pool of blood for what seemed like hours focusing on breathing. Every breath that I took pain like fire. I than heard the car pull back up and I closed my eyes waiting for him to just finish me off. He walked in angry. I knew he was angry because of the fire walk in his steps.
Mdu: You want a divorce?
I kept quiet.
Mdu: fine. He grabbed the papers on the floor and signed the and threw them to me. I couldn't believe my eyes.
Mdu: You not going to get a cent from me do you hear me?
He grabbed me by my hair and looked right into my one eye that was opened.
Mdu: You are nothing, you will never be anything in life, your own mother tried to abort you than later sold you off. Do you even know how much I paid for you? Huh?. He slapped me so hard I think my head was spinning inside out.
He took a knife on the counter and for a minute there I really thought I was going to die when he cut my clothes from the neck down and forcefully dragged my legs open.
Me: Please
Mdu: Oh i love it when you beg. He undid his pants and rapped me. I closed my eyes and thought of flowers. Red and white roses slowly falling off it trees. Its seemed like hours as I drifted off until it was darkness all over me.

3 days later
I woke up a room so bright that i closed my eyes again and slowly opened them. I looked around and saw i was in a hospital. I kept quiet for a minute than I heard footsteps. After a while short chubby woman walked in smiling at me in her nurse uniform.
Nurse: You up
Me: thirsty
She helped me up and then gave me water. I drank in silence.
Nurse: Good to see you up. Let me call the doctor.
Me: Please don't. Give me a minute please.
She nodded and stood by the corner looking at me. We were both silent as we were in our thoughts.
Nurse: Your friend been here everyday to see you.
I looked at her confused, I had no friends.
Me: friend?
My voice came as a crack.
Nurse: Yes. The one who always carrying lots of papers with her.
I smiled as she was explaining my over worked free government lawyer that I found at the court house to draw up those papers for me.
Nurse: Ill have to call the doctor now
Me: Thank you. She smiled and left. I sat there for what seemed like an hour waiting for the doctor and he finally came with a policeman and a woman. I closed my eyes calming myself down than looking at them.
Doctor: Mrs Shazi
Me: Yes
Doctor: Am doctor smith and these two are domestic violence detectives your case had to be reported to authorities. You had major injuries and after some test it shows that you have had injuries that are consistent with domestic violence which was confirmed by your lawyer. Let me check your vitals and leave you in they capable hands.
I kept quiet as he did so and he left. Leaving me with them two and before they spoke Nozipho walked in holding her over flooding bag with papers and files.
She greeted the officers and smiled at me with teary eyes.
Detective: My name is Constable Zondo and beside me is detective Xaba.
Me: Nice to meet you too.
Detective: Please tell us how you got here.
Me: I don't know
Everyone looked at me.
Nozipho: Ayana
Me: Hmmm
Nozipho: its okay, you safe now. You can trust them just as how you have trusted me.
I looked at all of them. No one knows Mdu like I do and am not about to provoke him.
Me: Will i be arrested if I don't report my case?
I looked at Nozipho.
Nozipho: No but you need....
Me: No one harmed me. I fell
Detective Xaba: On a knife?
Me: Yes
He took out pictures and placed them on my lap. It was me covered in blood by the side of the road l. I picked one of me half naked covered in blood holding onto the nurse that was here earlier with tears streaming down my face.
I closed my eyes as that whole day came back rushing onto me like bricks.

Detective Xaba
I watched the tears roll down her face.
Ayana: i fell!!!
I looked at her and felt a sharp pain in my chest and took the pictures from her.
Me: Your injuries were brutal. You could have lost your life if it wasn't for the guy who was jogging and found you there with this.

Ayana
She gave me a plastic packet with my divorce papers signed and I looked at Nozipho.
Nozipho: iv filed them.
I let out a breath of relief.
Me: I fell.
I whisphered and she gave me a card.
Detective xaba: call me anytime of the day if you need me or change your mind.
They left and I closed my eyes.
Nozipho: why?
Me: Thank you for filing my papers. Did you bring the bag I gave you?
When I found the opportunity to leave the house that i call prison i packed up a run away bag with everything that ill need to survive and gave it to her for safe keeping.
Nozipho: Its in my car. Let me go fetch it.
She left and I closed my eyes for a minute than took my medical file and read my history with tears running down my face.
He really did rape me. After all these years he breaks me again. I closed the file and wiped my tears away and tried to close my eyes but all I could see was him smiling and cutting me all over my body while he was laughing and smiling.
Nozipho walked in with my bag.
Me: Thank you for everything.
Nozipho: I feel like I haven't done much.
Me: You have. Thank you
Nozipho: why does this feel like good bye.
I smiled at her and held her hand.
Me: You saved my life.....
