Tell me that you chose me. That you love me. That you crave the darkness - Kristina Haynes.

Christian
Mia and I spent the rest of the night talking and walking around the house. I'll admit, it turned out better than I planned. It was growing on me. Vin was right. It was secluded yet still a quick drive into the city, and she had beautiful views to admire as I promised.

She forced me to send the staff home, and made me walk around the outside of the property with her. "can we get a dog?" she asked, and I fought back a smile. At a later stage, sure. But knowing her, if I said yes, there would be a dog here within 48 hours. So I told her no. She frowned, but then got distracted with the small tennis court. She stopped in her tracks, gazing at the sky.

"what is it about the stars that you adore so much?" I ask her, taking in her expression as she focuses on the sky. A small smile on her lips. "they're absolutely beautiful. It feels like a force of protection, I guess. They know all my secrets. The stars are always around, you never feel alone. Sometimes I think the stars are all people that we loved and lost, you know what I mean? Like everyone who's passed away is now a star, watching their families from above." I watch her, suddenly overcome by her every word. "That's a beautiful way to think of it, Mia." I say, hoarsely. I never understood her fascination with the stars, but it comforts me somehow that she feels she had a companion in the miserable life her father gave her.

Once we were back inside, I carried a few of her boxes upstairs while she went on and on about the manicured lawn. "this is my room." I told her, pointing to the double doors. "this is yours." I gestured to the one right beside mine. A safety measure, of course.

She didn't look happy about that. "is there no other room I could take?" she asked, a hint of fear in her voice. Hell, she could take my room if she wanted. "why? I don't bite, unless I have to." I said, and she didn't even smile.

She looked uncomfortable actually. "I just... don't want to be near you when you have lady company over." she said, and her cheeks flushed. I couldn't help it, I smiled a little. "I won't have any lady company over, love. I promise." I tell her. She hesitated a bit, then agreed.

I hadn't had lady company in a long fucking time. It's been a dry spell these past few months. I simply didn't have time for it, and New York was filled with women. But for some reason or the other, my arousal only happened at certain, unasked for times. I didn't want to think about her now. My head was too filled with thoughts and she was standing right in front of me.

"you can have all the lady company you want." she said, sounding very unconvincing. Something akin to anger colored her voice, and while Mia was a cranky person at times, she never sounded angry. "don't let our fake marriage stop you from getting your needs met."

I felt my chest getting heavy. From what I could see on her face, it was as if she didn't mean a word that came out from her mouth. But maybe I was making assumptions. "I can't say the same for you." I said. It would be hilarious to see a man try and put their hands on her. Whether she wants it or not, she'd be responsible for a lot of the murders I commit in her name.

"what does that mean?" she asked, pulling out some of her dresses to hang in the massive armoire I had fit in. I walked closer to her. "it means, that I wouldn't recommend you letting another man put their hands on you. Whether you want it or not. Unless you like to witness murders happen in front of you." I said, and she let out a very small gasp. She swallowed. "I didn't want male company anyway." she said. Where she got this male and lady company thing from, I have no idea. I haven't tried any seduction tactics on Mia, but I have tried to charm her. It seems she's immune to it, she appears repulsed by me. I've always enjoyed a challenge.
