My phone started playing McFly loudly. It echoed through my ear and all around my room. I let out a tired sigh and reached a hand up on to my dressing table. I grabbed the ringing phone and pressed the snooze button. But no matter how hard I tried to 'snooze' the day; It was still Monday. Still college day.

I threw back the covers and slid over to my wardrobe before pulling out my skinny jeans and pale pink jumper. I dragged them on to my body and took my military boots in one hand. I stepped down the stairs one at a time just when my phone started vibrating in my hand. I pressed the receiver and my best friend's voice rang down the phone.

'Briii, are you coming in today? Missed you on Friday.' He muttered.

'Sorry, Aidan. I just couldn't be bothered with Mr Pipsqueak. Jesus christ, that man pisses me off. But i'm willing to do anything to get away from my mum, today.' I said. I listened out for my mother in the kitchen, but she didn't seem to be there which was probably good as I don't think saying that would really get in my mother's good books. I heard Aidan sigh apologetically on the other side of the phone.

'Mum troubles again?' He asked.

'Unfortunately. Don't worry about it though. I'll see you in a few. Don't be late today.'

'Of course. See you.' Aidan hung up the phone. I slotted it into my back pocket and strolled into the kitchen. I pulled some butter and jam out the fridge and pushed some bread into the toaster. After devouring my toast I suddenly heard a loud car horn outside. Start of another week. I pulled on my military boots and closed the door with a loud slam behind me.

'Brianna!'

'Bri!' I felt large hands grasp my shoulders and I was shaken awake. My face was cold after lying on the metal bench for so long. I was so sure my cheek now smelt delightfully of iron and tramp's pee.

'Aw, Aidan. Why'd you let me fall asleep here?' I frowned, sitting up, feeling quite disgusted. A calm breeze ran through my hair and made the leaves shake above as though they were cold.

'Sorry, Bri. But I wanted to show you this!' He pulled out a flyer from his back pocket and thrust in my face. His dark brown hair jutted out from behind it. He pulled the flyer a tad lower, reveling dark blue eyes that stared at me with excitement.

'You've been looking for a summer job, right?' He asked, happily. I nodded slowly and took hold of the flyer.

'"Waitress wanted! £17 an hour!"' I read the black, bold print.

'Why are you showing me this?' I asked, handing the poster back and looking at him with a confused expression.

'Well. As much as I don't want you to leave and go to Venice, I know it's what you've wanted for a long time. And all you need is money. To be honest, Bri. I've been looking for ages. I just want you to be happy.' A smile fell on to my face and I wrapped my arms around my best friend without thinking.

'Thank you so much!' I said. His arms fell around my waist and I felt him smile into my shoulder. I pulled away and saw his expression turn sad all of a sudden.

'What's up, Aidan?'

'We've just known each other for such a long time. And I'm going to miss you when you go to Venice.'

'So you've said since the day I told you about my plans. You know how badly I want to go though.' I smiled at him and he smiled back.

'We've still got summer to spend together!' I said. I grabbed the leaflet back from his hands and stared at it.

'So where's this job at then?' I asked.

'The Sandwich Shack down the road. Your job starts on Wednesday. I'll drive you if you like.' He smiled at me as I nodded.

'Sure!'
