Chapter Seven-Who I Really Am

Here I was, wearing the ugly orange T-shirt like everyone else, covered in armor with a sword in my hand. Annabeth had helped me get some of the armor on when she saw I was having trouble. I was on a team with the Athena cabin, who ended up being Annabeth’s mother, Percy, the Hermes cabin, the Apollo cabin and a few others I didn‘t pay attention to. We were about to play Capture the Flag which seemed to be a huge thing here at camp. Currently the Ares cabin held the laurel which was the prize the winning cabin got at the end of the game.

    There were rules that should of scared me to death. There was no maiming or killing. All magic items were allowed. Prisoners can be disarmed but not bound or gagged. The other rules were the simple ordinary rules. I was seriously terrified to play.

    A few minutes later we were all in position. Annabeth told me to stay at the border, the river, and help the others keep the opposing team away from our side. I wanted to know why they picked the newbie to keep people off our side. Oh well, I couldn’t do anything about it now.

    For a little bit no one appeared through the trees. We all stood, spaced out, waiting for our enemy to attack. The woods was completely silent. I started rocking back and forth on heels, the ADHD kicking it. I could tell the other campers were getting restless too. Colton had told me that almost all demigods had ADHD because it made us ready for battle.

    A twig snapped somewhere. I looked over to the two nearest campers. The had their swords in front of them, ready to attack. The moment I put my sword up a dozen or so screaming enemies came out behind the trees. Most of them went towards the other campers but one, a girl with dark brown hair and brown eyes came towards me. She was covered in armor and was holding a giant spear in her hand.

“So you’re the newbie, huh?” The girl said. I just stood there as her spear crackled with electricity. After standing there too long she started to stab the spear towards me. I managed to avoid the spear but not even to escape the heat of the spear. I wonder how she managed to hold it.

    “Aw come on. You aren’t making this any fun.” She said as she pushed me towards the woods. I still had my sword raised.

Go to the water. A voice in my head whispered. I slowly started to side-step changing the direction I was being pushed. The girl was still stabbing at me. Each time she got closer and closer.

    A small splash sounded and water filled my shoes. I was now in the river. A smile was forming on my face as the girl slowly became confused. Water started rising above me as I lowered my sword. After the water had rose above my head it went towards the girl like a giant wave. She tried to run but the water was faster. The water splashed over her and she stopped moving. She was completely soaked. She turned towards me, her spear slowly losing electricity.

“How did you do that?” The girl asked. As soon as she spoke, my team flew past me yelling and hooting. One of them was carrying the flag. The girl in front of me threw her spear down and stormed off.

    After Capture the Flag everyone headed to the campfire. Colton had caught up to me on the way.

“I heard what happened to Clarisse.”

“Who?”

“Clarisse the girl with the big scary spear, my sister?”

“She’s your sister?”

“Half.”

“I feel so bad for you.” Colton laughed.

“She not always like that.”

“Right.” We both laughed as we found seats in the amphitheater.

    About halfway through one of the songs lead by the Apollo cabin a giant shock came over the crowd. Everyone gasped and soon everyone was facing me. Percy stood up and said something under his breath. Colton said something that sounded like “I was right.” I looked down at myself and saw nothing different. Although there was a faint green light. I looked up and saw a green trident shining above me. Colton had told me this was a way that demigods got claimed. But I had no idea who’s symbol was above my head.
