It took me a few seconds to escape from the darkness. My eyelids fluttered as they struggled to open. Between flashes I saw that I was in a hospital and that people were crowded around me yet they weren’t looking at me.
When my eyes finally opened all the way I sat up slightly and saw that I was not in a hospital but rather an infirmary. The beds around me had kids with bright orange t-shirts and armor. All of them looked like they were beaten up pretty badly.
A blonde girl standing at the edge of my bed noticed I was awake. She ran out of the room with a strange look on her face.
Seconds later a huge group of people came in. One of them was an older man in a wheelchair. He looked like someone who would be a good teacher.
“This is the girl?” The man asked. The blonde girl nodded behind him. I took a good look at her now that I could see her face. She was extremely pretty with gray eyes that looked like they were calculating something. Her blonde hair was laying in perfect curls. She was wearing an orange T-shirt just like everyone else, but her shirt said: Camp Half-Blood. What the heck was a half-blood?
The man stared at me for awhile while I laid there awkwardly while everyone stared at me. I didn't see any familiar faces in the crowd.
“Colton?” The crowd parted and Colton headed towards me.
“Yes, Chiron?” Wait, wait, wait! Chiron? Like the centaur dude? Wasn’t he just a myth in Greek mythology?
“Are you positive that this girl is a demigod?” A demigod? I must be dreaming. There was no way one of my parents were a god.
“Annabeth, get the girl some ambrosia. Everyone else please return to your activities.” I watched each person exit the room. Colton stayed for a few seconds longer than every one else but soon followed after them.
The girl, which was called Annabeth, came back with what Chiron had called ambrosia. She handed me the food and told me to only eat a little. I took a small bite and almost devoured the square. The ambrosia tasted like mint chocolate chip fudge that the teachers used to buy me went they went to town.
Annabeth laughed as I ate the ambrosia. I noticed that Chiron had disappeared.
“What does it taste like?” Annabeth asked me.
“Mint chocolate chip fudge.” Annabeth nodded. Annabeth went to walk away but I stopped her.
“Where am I?”
“Camp Half-Blood.”
“Half-Blood?”
“It’s another term for demigod.”
“Wait. Why am I here?” Annabeth looked at me for a little while.
“You were attacked by the Griffin on the beach. Colton bought you here because it’s the safest place for people like us.”
“So you are saying that I am a demigod.” Annabeth nodded. “But who’s my parent?” I asked. Annabeth looked away.
“We don’t exactly know. All demigods are supposed to get claimed at the age of thirteen. However you are said to be sixteen. Your traits from your godly parent are undetectable. Right now, we have no idea.”
“Who’s your parent?”
“My mother is Athena.”
“Athena.” I repeated. “But isn’t she a virgin goddess?” Annabeth laughed.
“Us children of Athena are born a little differently.” Before I could say anything else Annabeth left the infirmary. Chiron appeared but he was different. He was now half horse, half man, just like the legends told.
