I woke up the next morning thinking the whole summer had been a dream. I was waiting to wake up in my room at Greenwood with Eliza snoring a few feet away. I was waiting to get ready for the summer days at Greenwood. I was waiting for something that wouldn’t happen.

When my eyes first opened I laid there in my bed with my hand on my forehead. After many self motivations I managed to sit up. When I started to get out of bed I noticed a giant suitcase, the only one I owned, sitting by the edge of my bed. I quickly ran to the thing, tipped it over and opened it with a smile. All the clothes I owned, that weren’t my uniform, were in the suitcase along with some other little things that you would take on a trip. I grabbed a bunch of stuff and got ready.

I headed to breakfast only to find that it ended about ten minutes before I got there. A girl had rudely told me off and called me a few names in Greek, which I could understand perfectly.

I was headed to the beach when some one called my name. I turned around and saw Colton covered in armor and sweat. He was smiling brighter than usual.

“I was worried about you, but you seem fine.” Colton said as he caught up to me.

“I’m trying to get over the fact that almost everyone in camp hates me.”

“Aw. . . .that can’t be true. I’m mean not everyone.” I gently gave him a push on the arm. We started heading towards the beach.

Once we were there I decided I was finally going to accept who I was.

“Colton, tell me about demigods.” I said as we sat down in the sand.

“Well. . . .hmm. . . .where to start? Well, demigods always look pretty similar to their godly parent and always have similar powers. For example, you can control water, just like your dad. Every time I pick up a weapon used for war I instantly know how to use it. Most demigods have ADHD and dyslexia. The dyslexia is because our brains are made to read Ancient Greek, not English. I’m sure you noticed some of the campers here talking in Greek?” I nodded. “Most demigods have above average strength and are natural fighters, but not everyone likes to. Nowadays demigods get claimed when they are thirteen, because around that age is when monsters can finally sense you. All demigods end up here, the one place where we are safe.”

From there on Colton told me everything I needed to know. Everything felt like I already heard it and it was just a review. Everything made perfect sense. Each word made me feel like I was finally home, I finally belonged. But deep down I knew that everyone secretly hated me. Maybe Colton did too; he was just trying to be nice.

“Lunch should be starting soon. We better head to the pavilion.” Colton stood sending sand to go flying. I shook my head. “Why not?” He asked.

“I will have to sit at the Poseidon table, right? I don’t want to do that. Everyone will stare at me.”

“No, they won’t.”

“I’m not going.”

“No one will stare.”

“I don’t want people glaring at me. Plus, I will have to sit alone with Percy.”

“C’mon, you are siblings, he’ll accept you.” I looked at him. He put out his hand. After a few seconds I sighed and grabbed his hand.

Halfway to the pavilion Chiron stopped us in our tracks.

“Tabby, I need you to come with me. Colton please head on to lunch.” Colton went to protest, but decided it was better not to.

Chiron led me into the Rec Room at the Big House. Everyone from last night was there looking agitated and bored at the same time. The moment I walked in I saw an image in almost everyone’s eyes. They wanted to jump at me with their swords and send me to the hospital for months. I suddenly got the urge to run out of the room screaming at the top of my lungs.
