Today was probably the hottest day of the year, and I was lucky enough to have the day off. I sat in the kitchen, my head leaned back to look at the ceiling as I praised the low-powered air that was flowing onto my face. Fiona came down the stairs, in a rush, and Debbie was hot on her tail. "The register is broke at Patsy's," Fiona announced as she came to a stop, "I got to head in," Her eyes landed on Debbie who was holding Harry.

"Well, can you take her with?" Debbie asked, holding her daughter out towards Fiona, who shook her head as soon as she asked.

"No."

"But, you're the manager, you can do whatever you want!"

"I want not to watch an infant during the lunch rush on the hottest day of the year."

Debbie let out a frustrated groan, "Why are you doing this to me!"

Fiona let out a pitiful laugh as she was asked this, "I am not doing it to you. I am doing it for me," She looked over at me for a split second, and panic rose to my eyes and I started to shake my head, "Call Lip, Mabel has to come help me at Patsy's, don't you?" I felt my body relax as Fiona said this. At least Patsy's had A/C and I wouldn't be stuck watching a baby.

"Right, totally forgot," I said as I hopped up, "Sierra said lunch rush is killing her, promised I would help," I then looked at Debbie, "Sorry, Debs, I'd love to help, but duty calls."

I quickly followed Fiona out of the front door, "Thanks," She said to me as the door closed, "I know it's your day off, but Debs needs to learn some sort of responsibility, I know it's hard to throw people under the bus," She looked over at her shoulder at me, "You always want to help, don't you?"

I chuckled softly, "I can't help it, I grew up with you guys, you took me in when my parents couldn't keep their eyes open to care about me."

Fiona and I got to Patsy's and walked towards the cash register where Sierra was standing, "Hey, how'd it go?" Fiona asked.

Sierra pointed at the cash register that was busted, "We panicked."

Fiona let out a groan, "Shit... Do you know how much these cost?"

Melinda let out a small chuckle, "It's from like 1910, so probably like a dollar."

Fiona rolled her eyes, "I mean the cost to replace it."

Sierra shrugged, and Melinda looked over at the register again, "Well, we've been doing okay lately."

Fiona scoffed at her, "It doesn't mean we're in a position to buy new equipment, we just got out of the hole Sean dug," Fiona looked around the counter, "Where you been keeping the cash?"

Sierra turned around, pointing towards the back counter, "Twenties, fives, tens, and ones," She said as she pointed out the rubber banded stacks. "We used calculators and wrote everything down on a pad."

Melinda then spoke up, "Oh," She laughed, "You... uh, Asian nazi came looking for you earlier."

"Shit, I forgot." Fiona looked down at the pad, then she made a face, "This can't be right, this says we made over a third more than we usually do."

"Grilled cheese was a hit."

Fiona and I didn't stick around Patsy's too long before we ended up going back home, I sat back down in the kitchen, Fiona sighed as she sat across from me, "How are we going to pull off this party," She asked me as she spread out her notebook, it was scribbled with numbers, "Do you think there will be enough traffic?"
