Lonely

I laid next to Fiona in her bed with her new air conditioner blowing onto the two of us. "God, I am so glad you got this thing," I said, a smile on my face.

"I'm just glad we have a day off to enjoy it," She said in reply.

The cold air blowing onto my face, the house was quiet, and nobody was around to pester Fiona. We never really spend a lot of time together out of work, other than a casual conversation here and there, but, finally it was nice to just be around here without worrying about if someone stole the tips, or Patsy's was going to shit. Then, of course, the silence was cut off by footsteps and then... "Yo, holy shit," I heard Lip say, "When'd you get an air conditioner?"

Fiona propped herself onto her elbows, "Yesterday," She smiled. She then nodded towards Debbie's room, "Debbie's not in her room, she sleep at Neil's last night?"

Lip was quick to nod, "Yep."

"So... that's a real thing now?"

"Looks like it..." Lip then sighed as he leaned against the door frame, "Look, Neil's, uh, he's a nice guy and all, but-"

"He's a paraplegic with no impulse control," Fiona finished off the sentence, maybe in a harsher way than Lip was intending to, "Sierra say anything about it?"

This caused me to raise a brow and look towards Lip, who immediately looked over at me, but only for a moment before he shook his head, "Not really, I think maybe she's in denial."

"Debs is just overreacting, like always," Fiona sighed, showing her frustration, "She thinks it'll solve all her problems." Lip seemed hesitant, "DFCS is not gonna take her baby away."

Lip gave her a half-assed nod, "She's just trying to get her shit together, like you told her to."

Fiona couldn't help but roll her eyes, "I told her to get a job, not beg on a corner with Franny."

Lip lingered there for a moment, he shrugged his shoulders, clearly not in the mood to continue arguing about Debbie and her poor life decisions, because clearly she was just trying to prove a point, or was protesting against Fiona, for lord knows why. "Alright..."

"This air feels so good..." I said softly, trying to move the conversation in a different direction, it felt like the first time Lip looked at me since he started talking to Fiona.

"Yeah?" I saw a small smile form on his lips, "Maybe I'll get myself one of those... Coming into some money."

"No kidding?"

Lip nodded, "Yeah, internship."

"They're paying you now?"

"Yeah," He then chuckled, "They just don't know it."

Eating breakfast in the Gallagher house felt a little different, it was rare I ever took a day off; I much rather be in the restaurant bending over for tips.

Carl walked down into the kitchen, "Hey," Lip greeted him; turning around to look as he opened the fridge, "Would my Apache brother like toast? Or do you only eat maize?"

Carl rolled his eyes, "Laugh all you want, but it got me a scholarship to military school."

Ian was sitting next to me, scarfing down cereal, "He's got a point," I argued for Carl's case.

"Do we get a discount at the Indian casino?"

Lip pointed at the top of the fridge, "Hey, can you hand me the cereal, Marches Without Foreskin?"
