Distance

Things between me and robin became painfully awkward. I ended up sticking next to Steve with robin on the other side of him, I felt bad for tangling steve up in our relationship mess metaphorically and physically. I didn't even know where we were going I just kept my head down and followed steve. When I looked back up everyone was gone and a man with a pony tail dressed in all black was charging toward me, thankfully steve yanked me away pulling me down in between a set of escalators.
"Look I dont care what happened between you two," Steve said look at me and Robin. "But you need to stop moping around and get you head in the game before you get us all killed!" I looked away and nodded with a guilty feeling in my gut, I assume robin i did the same, I mean its hard to tell when not looking at someone. We heard voice so we all ducked behind a store counter and tried our best to keep our anxious breaths silent. I heard footsteps getting closer and closer, I gripped Steves hand wishing it was Robin.  This is it T I thought. This is your chance to redeem yourself you just need to cause a distraction. But before I could do anything a car alarm went off. The men began walking toward the vehicle as it flung toward them killing all them instantly. We all stood up from behind the counter, steve and I sharing a look. We all looked up to the 2nd floor balcony to see a group of teens, one with blood coming from her nose and tear stained cheeks. Eleven. We all met in the center of the mall with some hugging and crying happy tear of course. There was some sibling bickering but all I could focus on was eleven. She didn't even seem to notice me she just walked right past me before falling over causing everyone to turn their worried heads.
"El!" A boy with dark wavy haired yelled rushing up to her. I couldn't do anything to help everyone crowded around her and pulled up her pant leg to reveal a utterly disgusting flesh wound. Horrid squelchy sounds came from the leg as eleven screamed and a man ran off. When came back he hand a scorching knife and a wooden spoon in hand.
"Here bite down on this okay," He said playing the spoon in her mouth. He drew the blade and held it along her leg earning muffled screams of agony from the young girl. The man plunged his fingers into her leg trying to grab whatever was moving around in there.
"Stop! STOP STOP!" She yelled spitting out the spoon, but the man didn't listen he kept going till another beautiful girl pulled him away. Eleven whimpered in pain.
"I can do it." I said.
"Sorry who are you?" A red haired girl asked.
"Im Ten but robin and steve call me teaghan, Im from the lab too. I may not be as strong as eleven but I can still help."
I said as I concentrated hard on the girls leg, a creature shrieked as It struggled against my powers. I got it out of her and through the disgusting thing across the mall. Just then a man came and stomped on it, killing it. He was followed by two other adults one small and almost fragile lookig like if you even touched her she might crack(Joyce). The other was a silly man with glasses and a fuzzy face(Murray). And the man you killed the small creature was a big slightly beat up man with a strong look of determination(hopper). I walked away from everyone and went to the only place that will either make me feel better or worse, I didn't really care anymore. Scoops Ahoy. The metal protector was pulled down but steve must have forgotten to lock it in because I easily yanked it up and walked into the back room. Everything was just as we had left it, the maps scattered across the table, The dictionaries, The white board, Robins back pack. I walked over to it seeing my clothes still sitting in the bottom of the bag. I took out a fresh shirt, a pair of jean shorts and her sweatshirt. The one she had given me the day we first met what felt like forever ago but wasn't even a week. I changed into the new clothes holding onto the sweatshirt holding tight. At this point it was all I really had left of her. I curled up against the wall crying into the simple piece of clothing.
"Hey," a soft voice called. I looked up with red puffy eyes, robin.
"Hey," I called back trying to straighten myself out. She sat down next to me without saying anything. "Do you hate me?" I blurted out, instantly regretting it.
"T," She began. "I just, I feel like I dont know anything anymore. I mean were living in a world full of things I thought only possible in games and stories." She gave a soft laugh. "Im sorry for everything." Was all I could muster up,I gently rested my head on her shoulder.
"You ever had anything to be sorry about," She kissed the top of my forehead, then she stood up offering me a hand. I took it cautiously still clutching to her sweatshirt. "Come on we gotta get back to the nerds before they leave with out us!" Once I stood up we relapsed our grip on each other as I threw on Robins sweatshirt. I. Realized that she probable wanted it back after everything that had happened, so I began to take it off. "Keep it. It looks cute on you." She smiled.
I confused blush spread across my cheeks but I left the jacket on and walked out with the girl of my dreams.
We'd soon caught up to 'The nerds'. As we all walked out the door together, Steve's eyes lit up seein the fancy yellow car in front of him. He looked like a child on Christmas as he ran towards the car exclaiming. I didn't care what we were doing as long as me and robin were together I felt it would be okay. Dustin ran in shot gun as me, robin and erica pilled in back. Me and robin held hands as friends and I once again laid my head on her shoulder.
"Can you guys please get a room," Erica snarked. "Your ushy gushy lovey doves crap is making me physically ill!" We just laughed at her remark.
I didn't even realized I had fell asleep until I felt steve make a jerky turn, squishing the three of us in back.
"Jeez nice driving champ," I said rubbing my eyes. Steve tried running the car up a super steep hill but it didn't work. "If only your love could power the car," I smirked. Steve just gave me a fake sour look before hoping out of the car and pulling his seat down for the rest of us. Once at the top of the hill Dustin rushed over to a tiny metal tower quickly fumbling around with it.
Suddenly voices came from the speaker dustin must've attached to the tower.
"Griswold family this is scoops troop do you copy?" He asked, No response. "I repeat, Griswold family this is scoops troop do you copy!" Earsplitting shrieking came from the other end. "Shit. Mike? Mike! MIKE!" Dustin yelled at the small speaker in his hand. "Shit shit shit!" Steve ran off and started the car, "Steve where are you going?!" Dustin called. "To get them some back up!" Steve said running back up the hill motioning for robin to follow.
"Hey," Dustin tossed a walkie at steve. "Keep in touch!" Steve ran off and it looked like robin was about too but I quickly grabbed her wrist, she spun around as I crashed my lips onto hers-
"Please come back," I said with pleading eyes.
"Of course," She stuttered before running off with steve. I stayed with Dustin and Erica knowing I couldn't leave them. Dustin began fumbling around with her walkie tower again. He started talking to the silly man with glasses as I walked to the edge of the hill, watching the mall. The lights were out and something was on top of the large building. I ran up to Dustin.
