For living in a motel, things haven't been too bad. Leah from my new team of case managers and I have looked at a few apartments, but nothing has panned out. Today we have appointments to look at another three apartments and I hope one of these is it because I'm tired of looking.
Shane rolled over in bed and I couldn't help but smile. It's against the rules to have sleepovers at the hotel they're paying for, but we haven't been caught yet. I've been up for an hour and ready to go see these places. I asked Shane to go with us since he's off which is why he came here after work instead of going home. Leah is due to be here in an hour. Both Shane and I have to work tonight as well.
I crawled on the bed and gently shook him. "Babe, you have to get up. She should be on her way soon."
"But I want to sleep." He whined.
"She can't know you've been sleeping over."
"I know babe."
Shane sat up and rubbed his eyes. He looked me over and frowned. "You're dressed?"
I smirked. "I took my shower last night."
"But I was hoping we could take one together."
I smirked. "I can get in there with you."
I touched his nose and he smiled. He grabbed my face and started kissing me. I pushed him down on the bed and he pulled back.
"Shall we continue this in the shower?"
I smiled. "Okay."
We both jumped out of bed and ran for the shower, stripping our clothes off on the way. He washed himself off, we had a quickie and got dressed just in time for Leah to call and say she's downstairs. When she saw Shane, she raised her eyebrows.
"I asked him to come with us. I hope that's okay." I greeted.
She smiled. "Yeah, it's fine. How are you Shane? I've heard a lot about you."
He blushed as he got in the back seat. "I hope they are all good things."
"Yes."
"I'm doing well, by the way. Hoping one of these three will be perfect."
"I hope so too."
I smiled and blushed. We are coming up on seven months, making him my longest relationship. I haven't told him that yet though, but I will when the time is right.
The first apartment was in some big stone building. It was okay, but more costly than what my budget allows. I'm getting assistance from social services, but don't want to stay on their programs forever.
The second apartment was right off Main Street, right on the edge of downtown. The building was two floors and very run down. While we were looking at the apartment, we heard a couple fighting and stomping in the apartment above, so I said hell no to that one.
"Hopefully this last apartment works out." I sighed.
"Me too. This one is an old house that was converted to an apartment building." Leah replied.
"That sounds pronising." Shane sighed.
We drove down Main Street and when she turned right, we both looked at each other hopefully.
"This will put you on my side of town babe." Shane pointed out.
"I miss living down the street from you too." I smiled.
Leah smiled and drove us to a house two blocks over from Shane. He and I both grinned.
"I say you take this one no matter what." He suggested.
