Tauriel POV
Legolas had suggested that I depart after my slip of tongue, and I woefully comply. What was I thinking? I was so out of it! You couldn't claim to be in a 'professional relationship' with someone and yet assign pathetic pet names to them!I tilt my head towards my window, and my eyes shift to the room I knew they were in. I knew Legolas didn't mean to make me feel this way, but I felt like an outsider to these people. Perhaps it was because I was an outsider. Heck, I hardly knew Legolas! And he was my only connection to them.
Stop it, I chide myself. This pathetic pity party over them not liking you is ridiculous. Who cares if they found favor with me? I sigh deeply, my tapping foot against the shiny wooden floors. How they felt about me aside, I knew we had bigger problems to face. What was the rising evil the man had talked about? Surely they couldn't mean him? He had been slaughtered a millennium ago, and the sole hope he had of returning had been destroyed in the firey pits of Mordor. And even if he was coming back, why blame Mikwood? The mutiny could be tied to a plethora of other things. I refuse to believe this was a result of some unfinished battle.Still.It was illogical to assume that just because Mirkwood was my home it held no faults. Thranduil was suspicious, and something had sparked the mutiny. Whatever answer was left, be it improbable, must be the truth. However, I couldn't yet accept the probability of Mirkwoods' hand on whatever evil was supposedly rising.
Just then, the door swings open. I stand up to confront none other than Legolas, who I guess felt he had the right to barge into my chamber whenever he felt like it. I cross my arms and legs, remaining seated in the chair I'd been in for the last hour. My eyes scan his grim face as he approaches me, closing the door behind him.
"Well?" I say, my irritation clear in my voice. "We're leaving immediately," He says solemnly. "Mirkwood may be the cause of all this trouble, and we need to confront Thranduil."
"And who would 'we' be?" I say. He rolls his eyes, clearly not in the mood to deal with me now.
"If you weren't invited I wouldn't be here now, so no need to act jealous of my friends." He says. Jealous? What was he talking about? My ears go red with anger, and my lips sink into a furious frown. Did he actually demand I trust and follow people I'd met a little more than an hour ago? With me, trust was earned. And frankly, Legolas' fondness of these people didn't allow for any exceptions. He should know this.
"I'm not envious, I'd just like to know who I'll be attacking my home with." I retort. Angrily, he turns around and opens the door.
"We leave at sunset." He says venomously. He slams the door behind him, dust falling off the frames from the vibrations. As soon as he's out of the room, I stand up so fast I see spots. Full of exasperation and rage, I march around my room and assemble the things I'll need for the journey. I can still feel the heat emanating from my ears. As I stuff items into my tattered bag, I try and force the anger out of me. I needed to remain professional, clear headed. We'd either head home to Mirkwood and find nothing wrong, or discover the traitor and deal with him or her. And either way, I'd end up home. And no spoiled, royal, blonde, rugged, handsome, stupid Elf prince would be allowed to mess with my mind.
The bright light fills my room. Glancing out the clouds, I see the brilliant colors of sunset smeared onto the clouds, as if a child had finger painted them. Nature's display was beautiful, yes, but that meant it was time to depart. I swing my bag over my shoulder and push the heavy door open, saying a silent goodbye to the room. I strut down the staircase and corridors, my injury thankfully healed to the point where it no longer affected my stride. After a few minutes, I pass into the stables where my horse was. I saddle my stead and he whinnies gleefully. Before I leave with him, I pet his snout and feed her an apple. Even when I couldn't stand the company around me, I knew my animals would always be on my side. Partly because they didn't know sides were being taken.
