In Spite Of It

living death is immortality,

just like life is immortal and

death is immortal.

not killing another but dying

to yourself as you live.


when the image is wiped clean

there's a clear white canvas

and you'll look for a while

not knowing you're looking

then you'll paint something 

else and ask,


"is this an expression of me?"


before that a dark canvas

of nothing that cradled the 

seed of possibility.


beliefs are obstacles,

stumbling blocks and dividers.

cards we weave together in

an attempt to find unity.

when language stops the 

house of cards falls down, 

and its not as scary as you

think, you might even 

accidentally find what you were 

looking for.


don't ever let them convince

you they know better,

don't let them take your mind

and clear out all the love 

and goodness, 

the curiosity and the mystery.

               

certainty and authority are

to be avoided,

the crowds too.


groups of organised people

preaching noble ideas often

leads to ignoble actions.


power is the evil everyone

grasps after.


Jesus was not a Christian

and Buddha was not a

Buddhist.


follow nothing but the name

of love.


beliefs come and go,

the other goes on untarnished 

in spite of it, 

not because of it.
