he downed 6 or 7 paracetamols
jumped head first
into a passing milk float.
he'd be going through a hard time
and couldn't take it anymore,
i was oblivious as he sneaked
out the front door
and would never have forgiven myself
if he had succeeded
in killing himself.
luckily the float was only going 5 miles
an hour when it hit him
and all he received by way of injury was
mild splashing of milk.
the 6 or 7 paracetamols helped with
the headache after.
