I was walking on the beach while crying, feeling so stupid. I promised myself I would never cry over a man, but here I was crying because of Conrad Fisher. I was looking directly at the sand when I bumped into someone.

"Sorry, I didn't see you," I apologized without looking at the person in front of me.

"No, it was completely my fault," a male voice responded. I looked up to see a young man, probably my age, with dark brown hair and brown eyes. He was cute, but right now I couldn't think of anyone else but Conrad. "What's your name, beautiful?"

"Beautiful? Really? That's your line?"

"No, it's actually the first time I've said it, and it came out worse than I thought," He closes his eyes before start laughing.

"I'm Addison, but everyone calls me Addi. And you are?"

"Nicholas, but you can call me Nick."

"Okay, Nick. Do you live here?"

"No, my sister and I are visiting our grandparents. And you?"

"No, my mom always comes to visit her best friend, so we've been coming here every summer since I can remember"

"Have you heard about the deb ball? My sister is going this year, and she isn't good at making friends"

"Um yeah, my sister is going as well... and me, I accept going, even though it isn't my thing"

"Then why you accepted?"

"To make others happy"

"So you're the kind of person who puts others' happiness before yours?"

"Not really, I just can't say no to Susannah Fisher, she is mainly the reason I agreed... and you don't know her, she is my mom's best friend" I clarify when I realize he has no idea who Susannah must be.

"Jeremiah's mom?"

"Yeah... you know him?"

"Not really I saw him today at the club and I heard some girls talking about him and his brother... I don't remember his name"

"Conrad, yeah they are popular around here"

"I know we haven't met that much, but can I ask you a question?"

"Sure"

"Why were you crying? If you don't want to answer that okay"

"Let's just say that I fell for one guy I wasn't supposed to"

"Why do you mean?"

"He will never feel the same way as I do"

"We can never choose who to love... It just happens, Addi, and if it makes you feel any better, then he is just an idiot, to lose such a beautiful girl"

"Thanks Nick"

"Will I see you around?"

"I'd love to"

"Give me your number first so we can keep in touch," he said, handing me his phone. I dialed my number. "See you around."

I felt much better on my way home, even though it still hurt. Nick was right; there was nothing I could do to stop being in love with Conrad. I think time will help.

When I got home, I went directly to bed, even though I knew there was no way I could fall asleep. I wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone. Belly tried to talk to me, but I cut her off with the excuse that I was tired and wanted to sleep. I knew she didn't believe me, but at least she didn't keep asking. This was going to be a long night.
