There have been over two hours since we got back home, and I still can't sleep. I've been tossing and turning in bed, trying to fall asleep, but it's not working. I stood up to get some warm milk to help me sleep when I heard my phone ringing. It was a message from Conrad.
"Are you awake?"
"Yep, can't sleep either?"
"Nope"
"Can we talk?"
"Sure, where?"
"In my room?"
"On my way."
I got out of bed and quietly made my way to Conrad's room. He was waiting for me at the door, and I just smiled at him as I entered the room. He sat on the bed, and I sat down next to him.
"Show me your hand," I told him.
"What?"
"You heard me, show me your hand." He finally understood me and showed me his hand. It wasn't as bad as I thought - the knuckles were red, but not as bad as they could have been. I carefully stood up and went to the kitchen for some ice and a towel. When I returned to the room, he was still in the same position he was in when I had left. I sat back down next to him, took his hand, and carefully put the ice on his knuckles. "It's likely that you will have a bruise tomorrow too."
"How's Belly?"
"Great. She'll have a bruise next to her eye tomorrow, and she's upset because tomorrow is the rehearsal for the debutante ball, and she doesn't want a bruise, but I'll cover it with makeup." I continued to put ice on his hand, but I could feel him looking at me. "Thanks, by the way."
"For what?"
"For punching him after he called me a bitch."
"I couldn't let him treat you like that." After saying those words, he leaned forward trying to kiss me, but I stopped him before.
"Con, you're really drunk right now, and you'll regret this, trust me."
"Adds... I really want you. I've wanted to be with you for so long."
I put one hand on his cheek and pressed our foreheads together. "You're so important to me, you know that, but I will never kiss you while you're drunk, even if I've been dying to kiss you since I saw you today," I whispered.
"Can you please stay the night with me?"
"Okay."
I put the ice away, and we just lay back in his bed. He hugged me from behind, and I rested my head on his shoulder. Even though a few minutes ago, I couldn't sleep in my own bed, here next to him, I could finally fall asleep.

I woke up before Conrad, and he was still clinging to me as if his life depended on it. I got out of bed, trying not to disturb him, and left the room. In the hallway, I saw Jere looking at me with an "I told you so" expression, just like the one I gave him yesterday.
"Jere, this means we're in trouble."
"Yep. By the way, do you know where Belly is?"
"I think she left to see Cam in a boat or something. Honestly, I have no idea."
"So she's with Cameron now?"
"Yep. Oh, no, Jere, don't tell me you're jealous."
"Oh, shut up."
"Okay, whatever. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go."
"Where?"
"I'm going with your mom and Belly to buy a dress for the debutante ball."
"I still can't believe you agreed to that. It doesn't seem like something that fits your personality at all."
"I agreed to make your mom happy. I couldn't say no."
"I get it. I know my mom pretty well. With one look, she can make you agree to anything."
"I know. I need to learn how to do that. It could help me a lot. But seriously, I need to go." He moved aside, letting me pass him to the bathroom, where I took a shower. After putting on my shoes, I heard the door open and saw Belly with a sad face.
"Bells, what's wrong?"
"He already left by the time I got there."
"I'm sorry. You can talk to him later and explain everything. Now, get ready. We need to go shopping."
She left the room to take a shower, and I looked at myself in the mirror. I was wearing loose white shorts and a purple crop top. I went downstairs to have breakfast, which for me meant cereal and milk. Jere was making something, but I had no idea what it was. He believed it would help Conrad with his hangover. It was a green drink that didn't look appetizing. Thank God I don't like drinking, because I'm not willing to drink that for a hangover. I'd rather die of a headache.
"I'm gonna swim for a bit," Conrad said after finishing the green drink. I didn't hesitate; I just followed him outside.
"Looking at you, I'm really glad I don't like drinking."
"You weren't there when I woke up."
"Sorry about that. I just really needed to change."
"Where are you going?"
"Shopping for some things for the debutante ball with your mom and Belly."
He looked at me with a smile. "I can't believe you agreed to do that."
"That's exactly what Jere said. I just did it for Susannah. She looked so excited when she asked me that I couldn't say no."
"Thanks for that. Thanks for doing what you could to make her happy." After he said that, he looked away.
"How's your hand?" I asked out of nowhere. I guess I didn't want the conversation to end.
"It's good." He showed it to me, and I took it to see it better. "Medicine really suits you. Good choice."
"It was one of the hardest decisions of my life, but I'm pretty excited. Although that means that from now on, I'll have to leave before summer ends. It's really my dream. And your hand looks way better than yesterday. See? I'm going to be an amazing doctor."
"I've always known you would. You're amazing at everything you do."
"Adds!!!" I turn to look at Belly who is calling me "hurry up we need to go"
"Coming!!! Bye Con"
"Bye Adds" I turn and hurry to catch Belly.
"What were you lover guys talking about?"
"Belly I love you, and you know that, but it's none of your business"

We spent the entire day visiting every boutique in town, but I enjoyed spending time with my mom, Susannah, and Belly. The last shop we entered was the one that sold white dresses.
"Addi, I already have a dress in mind that I know you'll like, come with me," Susannah told me, taking my hand and leading me to a dresser. Inside was the most beautiful white dress I had ever seen. It was in a princess style, with a white corset that was tight at the waist, and it had no sleeves, just small straps. Then it flowed loosely at the bottom; it was truly stunning.
"Oh my god, Susannah, it's so beautiful."
"I knew you would like it. I know you like simple dresses." I hugged her, and she hugged me back. We stayed like that for a while.
