I didn't intend for the romance to be misleading. I just didn't want it to be obvious. I wanted something different from the typical romance where you know exactly which character is the love interest from the moment they appear on the page. (Which is like the whole point of romance so I don't know.) I don't have anything against it, it's just that I personally will probably never be able to understand that and I wanted this book (which is based a lot on my own experiences) to reflect that.
