chapter 2

like everyday Maya would finish her work, go for a meal with her colleagues and get back to her flat entering she dropped her bag and coat aside that's when the small table lamp in her living room was turned on

"Welcome home Maya " the voice said and she turned around her heart trembling with fear.

Getting into a defensive position she didn't really look at him " who are u ?"

He took a step closer to her " don't I swear I'm calling the police!" She said trying to collect herself

" u don't have to " he said pulling his mask down  and now she was shocked no it can be !

"DEV.." tears was threatening to fall from her eyes he reached for her " No ..where were you?  for years I haven't heard anything from u and when Sam my little boy died I needed a friend Dev I needed u everyone plamed me for it as if I'm the one who lead my husband to that Accident .." she spoke tears falling down her cheeks now and Dev couldn't stand that so he took her in his arms

" I'm sorry u have to go through all this alone but I'm here now and I'm not going to lose my friend again" he said regret evident in his voice

Maya tried to calm herself down and left his embrace her eyes landing on his  warped arm

" what happened ?" She asked panicking

"Oh don't worry about it I would take care of that later " he said

"I don't believe u ! " she made him sit on the couch and got back with the First aid kit .

She unwarped the wound cleaning the area around it warping it with a new bandage 

"Thank u " he said and she just nodded silence filled the room but then Maya spoke again "won't u tell me where were ?u when my uncle died I know u wanted to leave and start again and develop all the money he left for u but I didn't expect u to vanish from my life like that

Dev let out a sigh  "I know and I'm really sorry but I'm not the same person Maya my life is complicated and I don't wanna trouble you I'm happy that I got to see u again; I wanted to because I knew I wasn't fair to you. "

Maya reached for his hand  "look Dev I'm not asking u anything alright I don't want any explanations for now all I'm saying is that I don't wanna lose u again I'm so happy u came to see me. " taking a deep breath she continued

after my husband death the whole family turned against me although I lost my child but that doesn't spare me so I left India for good and came here I got myself busy with work and I made a few friends but my life is so empty and I'm tired of acting strong all the time I need to heal but I don't know how much its going to take me to do so

Dev was listening and knew he wouldn't at any cost leave New york without Maya .

"Come with me " that's all he said

" what? , where to? I CAN'T " she said  getting up but he held her arm stopping her

" Maya I came here to make sure you're alright and happy and from what I can see you're not , come to Europe with me I wanna be here for you please " he said his eyes bleeding with her.

She didn't know what to say since always Dev was the only one who understands her, listen to her and here he is wanting to be there for her like old times and she wanted nothing more!

"MAYA .." Dev was interrupted  " okay I'm coming with u " she said and a  genuine happy smile played on his lips

" I missed those a lot " she said refering to his dimples

" Well u will be seeing them a lot since you're coming with me " he winked

She smiled asking " so did u settle down with anyone? "

He chuckled  " No of course not I told u  before I don't like long term attachments it's not for me . " 

They spend the whole night making up for the lost time talking about everything and nothing remembering the old Days Maya was Actually happy after a very long time.

in the morning Maya woke up feeling refreshed a smile played on her lips as she remembered meeting her best friend again.

She get off of her bed heading towards the living room where Dev slept she find the blanket she once pulled it over him placed nately on the couch .

She sighed  " is it possible that he changed his mind and left for good yet again ?

This thought vanished once she stepped into the kitchen spotting a plate of pancakes along with a glass of orange juice with a note attached to it

" went back to the hotel I will return shortly enjoy your breakfast and then start  backing we're leaving this evening😉

Dev .

she smiled  eating her breakfast with one thought in her mind this is a new beginning she got her friend back and for the first time she would give herself a chance to live not worrying about anyone and what they would think of her .

She was in the middle of backing when Dev came in

" there u are! And almost done" she smiled  and he helped her with the rest

"By the way Dev how did u get in yesterday? " She asked

He laughed softly " oh that I have my own ways remember when we used to escape classes I made use of those moments to get in

She smirked " how could I forget! we were like professional thiefs .

in the evening a car came for both of them and in twenty minutes they were in Dev's own jet heading to the other corner of the world.

Maya slept the whole flight Dev was so happy she's coming with him hoping he will manage to keep her safe .

Arriving at the mansion Maya gasped it was nothing like the mansion her uncle had in India it was duple the space for sure

Dev had a boyish grin on his face

  "Maya chill I know it's awesome "

Maya rolled her eyes as she followed him inside  "he's still the same " she thought
