Chapter 16

Dev's POV

For the first time in my life, I'm feeling weak and helpless, I don't care when it's me who's in danger and although I promised her she would be safe,  she isn't now.

At the same time,  I can't do what Vin asked for and Disappoint Sonia even more,  I have to act fast.

"Leo, arrange for me to meet DCI Fenton, we have given him valuable information concerning the business back then, and he will be happy to repay me now, he has to help me ."

Leo was relieved that Dev chose to ask for help instead of stealing the bank and as planned a secret meeting was arranged.

DCI Fenton Knows that without the information Dev has given,  his job controlling drug trafficking would have been even more difficult,  Dev did him a favour.

"Look, Fenton, I will get straight to the point,  Vin is a live and he has my Wife. "

Dev said and Fenton scoffed.

"Come on Dev,  in our records that man is long gone,  we have a full report for God's sake, or is it you missing being the King of the underworld and making up stories? "

Dev was beyond furious at this statement and got off his chair to face The DCI.

"You can take your report and put it in the nearest Trash bin, the guy faked his death and now he's back to get his money. "

Fenton swallowed in fear, he should have known better than to mess with Dev.

"OK, calm down,  How much did he want ?"

The DCI asked and Dev sat back down.

"Twenty Million plus some Gold bars. "

Dev said Casually making the DCI almost chock in his water.

"What!, Don't tell me that's about the bank heist you told me of ?"

He asked and Dev sighed

"Yes, I told you everything because I wanted to start over but now he's back and I will do anything to save Sonia whether you agree to Help or not ."

The DCI nodded.

"Of course, I'm gonna help,  nothing makes me happy more than you staying on the right path ."

He smiled and added.

"Look,  you will make it as if everything is working the way Vin wants,  you will buy Me sometime and when everything is ready, you will call him and arrange for trade,  alright? "

"Okay, I will trust you on this but if anything happens to my wife, I'm killing you and Vin both. "

Dev said and Left with Leo who was staying in the Car.

Somewhere else and in the isolated forest, Vin had tied Sonia to a chair after injecting her with something that would stop her struggle.

She was awake but feeling so weak as he stared at her satisfaction written on his features.

"I Can't believe how such a beautiful woman like you ended up with someone like him? you deserve someone better. " He stated

"What do u want? " She managed to ask .

"Don't worry sweetheart, what I want is coming with your husband on a tray and then I kill you both. "

He said with an evil laugh, after that bank heist, Vin was left with a disfigured face and one artificial leg.

"You doesn't like the view Huh? , I'm not handsome anymore and it's all his fault. "

He said and she stared at him expressionless.

"He's like that, once he's done with you, he will throw you away like you're some piece of Junk ."

Sonia was terrified,  this Man is crazy and he would kill her without even flinching, she knew Dev would come to her rescue but until then she had to help herself too.

"Let's call your prince charming and see how he's doing shall we ?"

Calling Dev Vin put the Phone on speaker.

"Tell me that you get what I want? " Vin asked tighen the ropes around Sonia's wrists making her hissing in pain.

"I got the money,  but for the gold you know I need more time, " Dev said and Sonia's heart felt at peace hearing his voice, he's coming to save her .

"You have twelve hours, Dev ; not a minute more or else I will send your wife to you in a plastic bag cut into pieces,  and you know I don't play games ."

He said and cut the call.

Leo's POV

I know Dev is trying to be strong,  but he's devastated from the inside, I have never seen him like that before.

I didn't expect he would ask for help instead I was sure he turn the city upside down for Sonia and steal not just a bank but a series of banks just for her .

Sonia changed a lot in him and he's not running from that fact, every time she's not around,  he tells me how lucky he is to have met her, She's his guiding light.

"DCI Called and said that you could now call him for the trade. "

"Good,  did he got the fake gold bars? "

Dev asked and Leo nodded.

"They're made to look like as the real ones,  Don't worry ."

Dev sighed in relief.

"This better works. "

He said and called Vin .

"I got what you wanted. " Dev said

"impressive! , you still have an hour before the deadline, but that's what I expected from a king,  don't get me wrong Dev I still have respect for you."

"Cut the chitchat! , where do you want to meet? "

"Always on point Dev, I love that about you,  meet me at the abandoned amusement park , in the fifth street. "

"I want to talk to my wife. " Dev said in an ordering tone.

"I will ignore your tone and accept your request since you did your part of the deal , she's a beautiful woman and I had a great time getting to know her. "

He said provocative

"Give her the phone you bastard! "

Vin entered the room and handed the phone to Sonia.

"Make it quick . "

"Dev.." Sonia said tears streaming down her face.

"Sweetheart , it will be over soon, I promise you,  stay strong,  are you Okay?"

He asked his heart breaking at the sound of her voice.

" I'm Now , I love you so much. " She said

"I love you too "

Dev said but then Vin took the phone from Sonia and disconnected the call.

"That's enough,  you will see him in a few darling and you both will die together. "

He said with the evil laugh making Sonia sick in her stomach.
