Chapter 12

Dev's POV

I opened my eyes and felt a sharp pain the moment I tried to move, which made Sonia who was next to me wake up, I felt bad for her spending the night sleeping on the chair.

" Careful !, You don't want the wound to open again ." She said helping me sit up properly.

I just nodded,  My throat felt Dry I reached for the Glass of water that was on the nightstand, and she smiled giving it to me.

I took a few sips and handed it back to her and she put it back in place.

"Thank you, sweetheart, You shouldn't have left the comfort of your bed though, I'm fine. "

I said and she stared into my eyes with the saddest look I have ever seen in her eyes until today.

I didn't mean to make anyone sad though,  it's just that all my life I'm not used to anyone caring about me or being worried about me like she's now.

Mom left me when I was a Kid and Dad until the Day he Died Kept comparing me to others so when he based away I changed everything in the company and then sold it so I didn't have anything to remind me of him.

That man hurt me with everything he had, my once told me that My mother was a woman who loves her freedom so once I was born she felt restricted and hated  life with Dad leaving him and me and as a result he took out his frustration on me.

" I wanted to be here Dev, don't worry about me, I was comfortable being close to you. "

She said and I couldn't understand how could she be this pure, I knew she has feelings for me without  and without me telling her anything about me.

Weird I have grown up convinced that every attachment that I have will leave me. So I never really trusted anyone fully.

" still, I knew it's been a hard night for u and I'm sorry about that."

I said and she smiled

"Stop it, Dev you're okay and that's what matters to me, You will have to eat something now to get your strength as fast as possible ."

"I don't feel like eating anything right now though. " I said and she glared at me .

"Okay, I will have something since u insist. " I said and she laughed.

I loved the sound of her laughter.

"That's more like it, I will tell Leo to bring it here, and I will be right back. " she said and left the Room.

I don't know if I love her or not but the thing is that I like having her around, I want her smiling,  safe and protected.
if that's love then so be it.

Sonia's POV

I'm so relieved that he's Okay,  he used to getting wounds and all , I know that it's a part of the business he's in , but when comes to him,I couldn't stand that , I couldn't stand him being hurt in anyway.

I went downstairs and saw Leo speaking to other men who works here.
He left them the moment he saw me approaching.

" Ma'am,  Do you need anything? " he asked

"He's awake and needs to eat something to get his strength back. " I said and he smiled

"Don't worry,  I told the chef to prepare something a while ago,  I will bring it his room Right away."

He said and I thanked him before going back upstairs.

entering I saw Dev sighing and smiled.

"What's wrong? " I asked.

"Don't tell me, I have to stay in this bed for long ."

"You won't,  if u listen to Dr. Vikram and give your wound the time to heal. "

Dev nodded "I know it's just that I have so much work to Do ! , I'm the King of underworld,  for God sake! "

I get back to sit next to his bed and held his hand.

"I know,  but sometimes u forget that you must let work aside and rest for u to be able to continue whatever you're doing,  right?, besides in the mean time u can trust Leo with Work and everything. "

He frowned "I can't trust anyone with anything Sonia , I have to be in control of everything.

I sighed that's when Leo came in with the food .

"Sorry if I took long,  feel better soon  sir ." Leo said and I took the tray from him .

"Thank you " we both said and he left us alone again.

"That's look delicious " I said  as I  opened the plates .

" it does actually,  uh can u ..feed me ?"

He asked me and sounded so cute doing so , I have never seen him sounding shy like that .

"Of course" I said smiling

I fed him and thankfully he eat well,  I wanted him to get well soon so we can leave Bangkok .

A few days later Dev was feeling better and Left Bangkok with Sonia, she thought they are going home but Dev had something else in mind.

Dev wake her up once the plane landed.
And she was surprised once she learned they were in Greece.

"Dev , I thought u said u have much work to do, so why are we here now ?" She asked.

"Well I thought,  it would be nice if we spend afew days here, just u and I ,u once told me u wanted a vacation. "

He said with a smile,  his dimples showing of course and Sonia felt like kissing him and that's what she did.

Once she backed off he pulled her into his arms again.

" Don't tell me you have a villa here too?."

He laughed "of course,  A king like myself wouldn't like staying in a hotel. "

Sonia rolled her eyes

" u just couldn't be Hamble can u ?" She asked

"Sweetheart,  it has nothing to do with Hamblness,  I'm just living life King size , which is the only thing suits me ."

Sonia's pov

I was so happy,  being alone with him   ,
Doing everything together, walking down the streets and just having a normal Day ,just felt magical I had amazing stay her .

  And again we get back to the house after a whole Day out,  I took a quick shower and got dressed, going down stairs looking for Dev .

Dev's POV

An unknown number called me and I just backed up.

"Hello? "

"Dev .. , .." I couldn't mistake that voice it's Max but why is he calling me after years?

"Max , why are u calling me as I remember u didn't want anything to do with me , friend! "

"Dev , listen uh I know,  I'm sorry about that but I just called u , to tell u that Maya is....Maya is dead and the funeral is tomorrow. "

"What , what are u seeing Max ? How ! What happened?" 

"She found out that she had cancer last year, last stage and the treatment didn't work, but she would have wanted u to be there in her funeral. "

Max said and ended the call , I broke down crying,  years ago I left Maya because I don't want my business to be a way to hurt anyone close to me , but life find a way to took the only friend I got .

I will be there in her farewell and hope she can forgive me someday.
