The next morning while eating breakfast, my mother asked Keenan how did everything go last night. "You should ask Jay how everything went. I think you'll be pretty surprised and really proud" Keenan said smiling at me. "Well, Jayla what happened? What was it like meeting Michael?" She asked. "Mom it was amazing! I got to sing with all the stars!" I said. My mother's mouth dropped to the floor. She looked at Keenan in disbelief and Keenan just shook his head. "It's true" he said smiling. "Oh my God, Jayla you sang?! With Michael Jackson?! Jayla! This is huge" she yelled. "He asked for a contact number to keep in contact with me and Jayla too!" Keenan said. Keenan was happy, mom was happy so I was happy. We all yelled around the room running all over the place in excitement.
1986 (14 years old)
A whole year has gone by, I just passed my 14th birthday and "We Are The World" has done amazing on the charts. Michael and I have kept little contact. But, I was surprised to hear from him today. "Hello?" "Hi, who's this" I said. "This is Michael Jackson, is Jayla there?" He said sweetly. "Hi Michael! It's me!" I instantly got excited. "Hi! How are you!" "I'm good" "Thats great! So Jayla listen the song has been going great and it's nominated for Grammys this year. Since you had a part on the song would you like to come next week? If your mother doesn't mind, of course" I screamed. "Come to the Grammys?! Really?!" My mother ran out to the living room with her hand over her mouth nodding her head yes. "YES I wanna go! Can I bring my brother?" I shouted. Michael laughed "Yeah sure! I'll have someone pick you guys up. I'll see you next week" I hung up and ran to my mom. "I'm going to the Grammys!!" I called Keenan and told him the good news.
