Evanna Kazanksy, the daughter of Tom "Iceman" Kazansky, was one of only a few United States Naval Aviators to be sent to TOPGUN just as her father had many years before her.
Iceman had an extremely cocky personality and was known for his big ego, as was his RIO, LTJG Ron "Slider" Kerner. His signature bleached hair tips are closely associated with the fact that he is "the best pilot" in the new class of TOPGUN students. He held an exceptional amount of grief for an incident he hopes his daughter never has to experience; being blinded by one's cockiness in which she jeopardizes her team.
Iceman's inability to separate his pride from his work, entered cut Maverick off in an attempt to maintain the top spot in TOPGUN yet, he was unable to obtain the shot resulting in pulling up and away forcing Maverick to fly through his jet wash. The dirty air stalled Maverick's jet engines and sent him into a flat spin. Maverick was able to eject safely, however his RIO, LTJG Nick "Goose" Bradshaw, was killed leaving his wife and son, Bradley Bradshaw, behind.
He had achieved the rank of Admiral and is serving as the commander of the U.S. Pacific fleet. He requested Maverick to teach at the TOPGUN school believing he was the only one to get an team ready; a team that includes his daughter and her best friend, the late Lieutenant Bradshaw's son.
Evanna, much like her father, flew with precision and accuracy. She flew with purpose; that purpose remains undiscovered. She strives to be at par with her father leaving her to graduate first of her class. It was no surprise she was invited to train at TOPGUN alongside the other top one percent of the best of the best naval aviators.
She is no stranger to loss but when her brother is KIA, she is no longer just fighting for the top spot but to prove all her hard work was worth something; her brother's hard work was worth something by extension. In her downward spiral she reconnects Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw, a fellow aviator with a spunky and charismatic attitude.
In her journey to redemption, she finds herself falling for the flirtatious advances of her longtime best friend.
