I hop down as my favourite 14 year old walks up. "Jaydan!" She yells and sits next to me, happily. "Kadei! Oh my god, I was getting so bored. Four was all like 'ehhh I'm the big scary leader' And then he scared a Candor." I laugh. "They're gonna love, Eric." She chuckles, the sarcasm dripping from her words. "Exactly what I said." I agree and hand her my root beer filled solo cup. "Yknow, you're the only one here who actually treats me equally and not just some kid." She sips it. "What because I give you alcoholic drinks and have matching tattoos with you?" I laugh and turn my hand over so my left thumb is pointing up. A smaller tattoo sits there of a rose. The first thing I thought of when I saw Kadei in a rosy red hoodie as a kid.

Her's holds a dagger with intricate designs. Her first thought was 'intimidating' apparently. They are a dumb idea for tattoos but we love them and thats what matters. Kadei is two years younger than me and she's been my friend since we were both able to walk & talk. We start to get hungry so we walk through some doors and make our way to the dining hall. I sit in my usual place where Four and Sam sit and chow down on a hamburger and fries. A heavy weight slumps beside me. "Are you deaf or are you just that used to it already?" Four looks over referencing the loud cheering. "A bit of both I'm gonna say." I chuckle. Just then a girl sits next to me. It's the Abnegation transfer, Tris. Her friend Christina sits down also. An Erudite transfer, Will, and his, Candor (I think) buddy Albert sit in front. He's known as Al.

"Have you never seen a hamburger before?" Christina asks. "No- I've hah... I've seen one I just have never eaten one." Tris replies. "Abnegation eat plain food. Plant-based diet with no sauces and a minimum of seasoning." Will informs. Smartass. "Which textbook did you swallow?" Christina asks. Al chuckles. "Nice to meet you, too. I'm Will. Erudite." He glances at her. "Of course you are." Chris shakes her head. "No offense but I'm surprised Abnegation even eats at all. Too selfish, right? No wonder you left." Chris mutters. The grip around my knife tightens. THIS is why I dislike Candors even if I respect them. They have such smartmouths.

"You gotta be pretty self-confident to be friends with a Candor." Will smirks. Now THAT makes me smile subtly. "What is that supposed to mean?!" Chris seems offended. "You have no filter." I offer without looking up from my food. "See? Jaydan understands. You say the first thing that comes into your head." Will agrees. "You mean like, 'You're an idiot.'?" Al asks. So, I was right. He is a Candor. Otherwise he wouldn't have gotten so defensive about the statements. They all chuckle. "Nice one, Al. At least we tell the truth." Chris says. "Ohhh now that. You can't say anymore. You're not in Candor now, are you? Therefore you have the right to lie as well. But, you choosing Dauntless is a reflection of your personality which, if I'm correct, means you most likely haven't been truly honest your entire life, huh?"

I glance over at her. She's not impressed in the slightest. Will laughs and Four nudges my knee with his lightheartedly. "Erudite can tell the truth 'cause we have the facts." Will slips up. 'We' I can feel Four's pressure against my knee get tense. "I don't wanna hear about your old factions. You're Dauntless now." He explains. I agree by nodding carefully. I grab some more fries and a chicken leg from further down the table. "Were you a transfer, too? Or Dauntless-born?" Tris asks. Bad mistake, stiff. Four looks at her as if he's a pageant queen in highschool. I hold my drink to my lips to hide my face between the pair and take quiet sips. "Are you kidding?" Four asks. "No." Tris replies.

Will has the same idea as me and glances at my cup. I can't help the smile that forms and his face copies mine as we agree through eye contact at the awkwardness of the situation we're stuck in. "What makes you think, you can talk to me?" Four finalises. "Wowwww. Really putting out the reputation of a high school mean girl right there, bud." I glance at him. Even though I hate them for it, Candors have always been headstrong about their small insults. There's a reason I don't associate my remarks with their personality however. And that's because even though a small percentage of me belongs in Candor due to me being Divergent, I still hate the thought of it. I don't like how boasty they are and how cool they believe they are. Same situation with Erudite but not nearly as much as Candor.
