"Sahana" he called from the back. Sahana didn't have to turn around to know who it was.
Sahana knew this familiar voice by heart. Suddenly she couldn't breathe, its was as if her entire world was frozen for that split second.
Sahana did not want to face him, not now especially when she had built a 'fake wall' that has been hiding her emotions for the past 6 years. Sahana just wanted to escape, and she ran to her car. Her car was parked under a shady tree where no one can see her.
As soon as she locked herself in the car, tears came rolling down her cheeks. She couldn't believe that, she heard him, his voice after 6 years. She didn't have the strength to look at him, that is why she didn't turn around. That one word from his mouth, her favourite word from his mouth, her Name. She herself was confused on how that one word could shatter the wall that had hidden her emotions and feelings all these years.2)
Shiva got the shock of his life, he can't believe the love of his life was standing right infront of him, his Raangi. But it almost feels like a sin to call her 'His Raangi' he thought to himself. Does he still have the rights? He asked himself
Shiva didn't run after Sahana, he couldn't pin point exactly why. Maybe it's because he was scared, or maybe it was because he thought he did not have the rights to do it.
Maybe it was a coincidence, that the both of them had decided to come to Kumbakonam today. Both of them had their own agenda in Kumbakonam. Shiva couldn't believe that he would meet his Rangi again in the city he first met her, in the city where their love journey started and ended, atleast for now.3)
Sahana wiped of those tears together with her feelings for Shiva, eventhough deep down she knows that it is a lie that she has been telling to herself. Sahana drove all the way back to Chennai, while forcing herself not to think about her Shiva. 'Sahana ne yevelo than try pannenalom, un manase yemathe mudiyathe' she thought to herself.By the time she reached home, it was already late at night, but Aishu kutty was still waiting for her. "Hi Amma, inniki naan ungeleye rombe miss panne teriyuma, tata patti sonnange inniki neenga Kombakunom ponninge nu. Angge poiyi enna ma panninge?"
Suddenly image of Shiva flashed through her mind, she immediately brushed it off and answered Aishu's question. "Ohh athuva ma, tata patti odhe paaliye viddu onnu iruku. Anthu viddu vikuratha plan panirekom, athan athukana vellai ya paarka ponnen ma."
Aishu was curious about the house and Kumbakonam "Amma, Kumbakonam thane neengalum appa vum meet panne place. Angge yeneye kuthitu poringela ma?" A small tear formed around Sahana's eyes. Sahana has been avoiding to bring Aishu to Kumbakonam, for one sole reason(Her Past). But she didn't have the heart to put off aishu's wish. She agreed to it. "Okay ma, naliki amma kutithe poren, seriya?"
"Jollyyy, thank you so much amma, I love you. Amma innoru vishayam, inniki appa yen kanuvule vantaru ma. Appa eppo ma foreign work la irunthe varuvaru? Ippo varikum naan avere paarthathe ille. Naan appave rombe miss pandren ma"
Sahana just smiled and thought to herself 'Nanum than ma'. But Sahana couldn't find the strength to accept Shiva again in her life. Not after the big disappointment from Shiva.
She kissed Aishu goodnight and both went to sleep.4)
Shiva was staying in his old house in Kumbakonam. The house that held a lot of memories of Rowdy and Raangi. Shiva didn't want to step to Kumbakonam ever again after his separation with Sahana. But his duty as the 'King' forced him to comeback to his hometown. He had a problem to settle in Kumbakonam.
He was thinking about the incident that happened this morning, and now his heart is telling him that he cannot live without his Raangi and Papa. "Ithe varikum wait pannethelam pothum Shiva." He said to himself. He wants to win his Raangi back and for that he has to change his look a bit. He thought of heading to the barber and getting his hair and beard trimmed tomorrow. "Sahana ne ingge irenthalum, naan unneyum papa vayum thedi kandepudipen. Yenneke neenga rendu perum venum ma." And tears rolled down his cheeks.
