Who wants to work in the heat?[F/F]

It's reaching record highs in the area. Slowly but surely the Land of Fire is climbing to the hottest it's been in about a century. People are struggling with it. Some are hiding out on their homes. Others are showing lots of skin and downing ice cold beverages like it's a new fad. Kids are making bank on lemonade and juice stands. Lots of shinobi are testing the limits of what's acceptable as a uniform.

At the moment you are drinking ice water. It started out as simply a cup of ice but after setting the cup in the sun for a moment or two it thawed out to the most basic of refreshing drinks. It's keeping you cool and hydrated. Beside you, your partner is looking a little fried.

You did warn her but Jiraiya is a tad stubborn. She said she wanted to wear all her stuff and nothing is gonna change that. She's not looking all that good. Her outfit has some heavy sweat stains. Her panting and her cheeks got a heavy flush to them as she overheats. You poked her cheek and it feels about as hot as the sun.

"Water?" You offer, holding out your to go cup towards her.

She leans down and takes a sip from the straw.

"Why don't you put your hair up or something?" You ask.

"I'm fine."

You roll your eyes at her.

"Did you want to take a break in a store or something? Buy some ice cream?"

She shakes his head.

"Let's just get going." Jiraiya insisted.

"It's a D Class mission there's no need to get all impatient."

She casts a look at you and scowls. She didn't like being reminded of the fact that she's on a rookie mission.

It was an emergency mission. The extreme heat had taken its toll on some of the greenhouse's herbs. The Nara were unable to save some of the plants that died due to drought and sun damage. While no one was suffering from the illnesses that these herbs help cure, some more essential all purpose ones were now lacking in storage. It's urgent but also not so urgent at the same time. Plenty of ninja were being sent out to forage the forest for replacements while the Nara planted seeds to replace the plants that died.

Jiraiya just happened to be in town and you weren't doing anything. As a precaution everyone higher rank was put into two man teams just to have each other's backs. Not that there's been lots of border raids or anything, it's more to make sure no one collapses of heat stroke and the right herbs are being picked. You are a Nara that works with plants, you know every herb out there. Jiraiya only knows some basic herbology. Enough to survive like she does in his nomadic way of travelling but she'd be fairly useless if it came to a complicated fever remedy that needed to be made on the fly with no recipe.

Honestly this isn't all that bad. Your kin be acting like it's the end of the world that a few plants died. They have plenty of foresight to know what to do and acting all spazzy over this was a tad ridiculous. But if it meant hanging out with Jiraiya, then it ain't so bad. Girls like her are good company. Intelligent in battle. Fair and kind. Pretty nice to admire... although at the moment she ain't looking all that sexy.

She sighs as she pushes her fingers through her hair, revealing a sweat along her hairline to a great degree. You take an obnoxious sip of your ice water and she casts a look at you. It's one of envy and annoyance.

"You could just take your shirt off, I don't mind." You suggest.

She scoffs and smirks. Cheeky lass you are. She casts a look over you. You aren't taking this all that seriously. You're wearing a breezy summer dress for goodness sake. If you at least could pretend that this is still an important job she'd be having a better time. Although you do look good. For a Nara you aren't all that plain. Nor insufferable. She finds that some from this clan can be. They either too laid back or think they are too far superior in brains to take the time to listen to people like her. You're laid back but you're humble. It's a good trade off. If she got partnered with any other Nara she would've chanced the scolding from Tsunade and left to go find these herbs herself.
