A small chime from the oven breaks Miss Hudson from her momentary reverie as she smiles in excitement after finally having the treats properly baked and would be enjoyed by her and a future companion later. Placing her cup of tea down, she then proceeds to wear her pair of mittens before opening the oven. The delectable aroma immediately escapes from within as she takes a quick whiff before carefully taking the hot tray inside. The last batch of her prepared snacks completes it all as she transfers the chocolate chip cookies in a more presentable container, just a simple plate that fits all of it. Placing it beside the others, she claps to herself.

She glances at the grandfather clock just outside the kitchen, noting the time and the remaining minutes she would have to wait. Humming lightly after seeing that it won't be long until your arrival to have the usual afternoon tea with her, she decided to boil some water first. Letting the flame of the stove flicker to life, she carefully placed the teapot of water on top of its supporting structure. She skips her way back to the table, arranging the desserts that would be fitting for the tea later. She was always mindful to the sweets that would be appropriate to its respective tea, organising such groups before focusing on your favourites as well that are always present.

She put extra effort this time, knowing that you needed it the most right now along with some comforting words and gestures that she is very much willing to give to you later. Making sure that everything has been set with the snacks and the overall area being clean and having enough atmosphere to be welcoming to her most valuable guest, she returns to stand beside the stove after giving the clock a glance. The teapot released a whistle as the sound responds to the increased temperature within it while Miss Hudson carefully places it on a tray along with your favourite teacup and tea, gently placing it just before the arranged sweet treats before she waits.

She was a bit confused when the minute hand already strikes two minutes after the usual time you would normally arrive, causing her to gingerly frown in concern before she finds herself standing up. The apron she used earlier was left hanging just beside the doorway before she traverses outside her apartment unit, waiting quite impatiently now just behind the front door of the overall building. Unconsciously wringing her hands while feeling nervous as she paces about, she continues such actions before it halts after she hears someone knocking by the door. She sighs in relief before immediately undoing the lock, opening the door wider to let you in.

"Y/N! There you are! You made me worry for a bit there... Come in, dearie." She immediately greeted you with her usual enthusiasm while subtly frowning after seeing your distraught expression that you tried to hide behind your polite smile, gently ushering you inside with a gentle caress on your arm and back.

You did not mind her comforting gestures, knowing that it was already the norm for her in terms of your interaction that you viewed as platonic and nothing more before you utter. "Thank you, Miss Hudson. I'm sorry for worrying you... There was just a little inconvenience that suddenly occurred. But everything is fine now... As well as it could be, honestly."

Miss Hudson felt giddy to have your presence again after the times you would cancel or postpone your bonding time just because you were busy with your wedding preparations. However, she also felt frustrated with how her plan resulted in you being quite a wreck that she hoped would not last long, mainly directing it to your former betrothed. She already knew about the inconvenience, but remains to be patient and would go along with your pace with informing her about it. You followed, closing the door behind you while unconsciously squeezing her reassuring hold on your hand as she leads you to the kitchen where her efforts await.

"I baked goodies that you love! Don't be shy now. Take as much as you want and here's your tea as well. Brewed and prepared just as how you like it." She carefully placed your own cup of tea of your preferred type of such liquid before gesturing to the arrays of treats in front of you after you took your seat.

Hanging out by the kitchen, she partners it up with baked goods along with a good cup of tea as you pour out your frustrations and sadness while she listens intently. You have shared how the wedding preparations had been almost completed after the effort and time you have carefully put into it, only to no longer proceed with it after a complications you have with your betrothed. The tea had been filled halfway after your occasional consumption along with eating some sweets upon your reach, as guided by your dear friend while you continued with pouring your heart out. Having you come to her when you need her is the best feeling ever for Miss Hudson.

You took a deep breath after a moment of your ranting, downing your tea before munching on your comfort food before sheepishly smiling at her. "Thank you, Miss Hudson. You're such a very good friend... Caring and understanding. I'm so lucky and glad to have you... Especially now. I'm so sorry for being so emotional..."

She immediately wave her hands around to reassure you that everything is fine for her, just doing her part as your friend before she softly smiles while gesturing to herself with a palm. "No need to apologise. Take your time and I would never judge you or anything... Let go all of it if you want. I'm always here to comfort you..."

You frowned after lowering your gaze as you scoffed after recalling such a bittersweet memory. "My marriage... It's completely gone. Everything was already planned out, but it also disappeared much easier than preparing it... Was it my fault? I really don't know what to do now..."

She lightly hummed after your revelation, hiding her relieved smile through taking a bite of a cookie before munching on it thoughtfully. An opportunity is revealed to her once more to take the relationship between you two further than just friends. Just by remembering the certain moment that you introduced your betrothed to her made her unconsciously grip the remaining treat on her hold, subtly causing the cookie to crumble. It seemed that her decided role as your caring friend had taken quite the turn on her when she decided to be more concerned about your well-being, unconsciously revealing something that she was not yet supposed to know.

"It was never your fault. You deserve someone better. Someone who would not cheat on you the moment they will saw an opportunity to do so... I'm really sorry that this happened to you, Y/N." A subtle downturn of her lips replaced her smile as a means to show empathy to your situation, thinking that her plan worked quite well.

Though you've grown confused when she mentioned the reason with your breakup despite not remembering that you've shared the information to her. "How did you know that it was infidelity...? I didn't tell you anything about it, did I? I'm not accusing or implying anything... Just baffled."

Miss Hudson subtly frowns before acting clueless about your accusation, tilting her head to the side while gazing at you with a raised brow in confusion. She mulls over her slip up before snapping her fingers as if she remembered something. Her concerned tone was enough to put on a show, directing the concern to yourself instead of making you realise that your conclusion had been correct. You never really did inform her about what really happened behind the fall of your marriage, but you also tend to forget some things and realised that you had indeed been driven by your emotions earlier that you may have accidentally slipped such information.

"Oh, sweetie... Have you forgotten already? You had many things that you babbled about earlier. I just put two and two together until I reached that conclusion. I'm sorry if I pried into the situation further than I should have..."She shrugs off your scepticism, informing you that you've perhaps chattered quickly and also being emotional may be a factor of your forgetfulness

"No, it's fine. I guess I'm just so exhausted and stressed from everything that had happened... But I did feel better now. Shall we enjoy our tea time now without concerning ourselves with the issue?" Accepting her answer, you continued to receive her comforting gestures, being unaware of how the innocent and caring friend you've seen her to be really the one behind your misery.

Why would you even find a reason to doubt her trusting words when she had been always there whenever you would found yourself unfortunate when it comes to romantic attachments, not finding it unusual since she had been your dearest friend. Such an issue among nobles is unfortunately common that pursuing her plan to break off your marriage had gone smoothly, resulting to another broken hearted moment of yours. All she did was disguise herself as another lover for your betrothed, resulting to a temptation. Nothing more than the needed evidence happened that was enough for you to lose your trust and love with your betrothed.

"Are you certain? I'm here if you ever need anything. You deserve the world, Y/N. Remember that it was not your fault and that there is always a better future waiting for you." She sympathetically tried to console you further while gently rubbing a thumb on the back of your hand that got you feeling subtly flustered.

As she witnesses you regaining your composure through wiping away your tears while sniffing occasionally, she lightly smiles before gently sipping her tea then murmuring to herself as she glances at you, feeling satisfied through your current tough time that she ensures the both of you will get through. "And besides, your supposed future spouse did not deserve you..."
