"Eye contact is a dangerous, dangerous thing. But lovely. Oh, so lovely." - Unknown
Chapter 3: kissing styles of an introvert
Reading off the numbers 3:54 from the glaring alarm clock she sighs and turns around, cuddling up to her warm pillow. She stares out into the darkness of her room as the memories of the night before replays like an old tape in her head.
"I hope you know this song." He told her before pressing a few keys on the piano, all while still looking down at her. His fingers start moving effortlessly over the piano and she looks around, everyone in their naval uniforms were starting to surround her. Much to her obvious surprise, the man next to her starts singing and she immediately recognizes the song.
You shake my nerves and you rattle my brain
Too much love drives a man insane
You broke my will but what a thrill
He looks back down at her with a grin stretching on his face and nudges her with his shoulder.
Goodness Gracious Great balls of fire
The crowd seemed to get ten times bigger as everyone sang the infamous line of Jerry Lee Lewis. She starts smiling and shakes her head. Well if you can't beat them, the least you could do is join them. She joins in with Rooster as he sings the next line and they both glance towards each other, keeping eye contact, seemingly with a tattoo of a smile etched on both of their faces.
A funny feeling was beginning to bloom in the pit of her stomach but she chose to ignore it.
I laughed at love 'cause I thought it was funny
But you came along and you moved me, honey
She glanced away from him and out into the crowd of aviators, her eye catching the female she saw earlier and gave her a smile. Phoenix grinned back and wiggled her eyebrows while glancing at Rooster and back at her. Spitfire unaware that the man in question was still glancing down at her.
I've changed my mind, this love is fine
The crowd screamed out the next line, the sound echoing through the whole room while Rooster reared his head back, singing the words full of passion. Penny glanced out of the window of the bar only to see Pete Mitchell with a sorrowful look on his face and her heart broke at the sight.
GOODNESS GRACIOUS GREAT BALLS OF FIRE
He glanced back down at Spitfire only to realise that she was already looking at him, the world around fading away into the background as they sang the next few lines together, gazing into each other's eyes.
Kiss me, baby
Ooh that feels good, baby
Rooster's voice dropped at the last line and a shiver went down her spine, her ears turning a bit red as she shifted in her seat, glancing away shyly. Now that was hot she thought to herself.
Hold me, baby
I wanna love you like a lover should
You're fine, and so kind
Got to tell this world that you're mine, mine, mine, mine
She stood up after that line and went straight to the woman she made eye contact with earlier, grabbing her hand. "Let's dance?" Phoenix grinned at her and nodded vigorously, unaware of the brown eyes perched on the redhead next to her.
They danced around the room, laughing and stumbling along as Rooster sang the next few lines. She turned back towards where the piano stood and met the eyes of the singing man and grinned at him from across the room.
