"Sometimes I think if no one spoke to me, I'd never speak again" - Alice oseman, radio silence
Chapter 13: Finally learning the truth
"Knock knock"
"Who's there?"
"Honeydew"
"Honeydew who?"
"Honeydew you want a hug?" Christine gestures for Spitfire to move closer to which she only laughs and shakes her head before being engulfed.
"You know, things would be much better if you just go and talk to your dad," Christine lets out softly while drawing back - holding the younger woman at arms length as if to inspect her.
"Which one?" Spitfire teases with a small smile on her. "If I even try to talk to Maverick now, the chances are high that we'll just end up fighting the whole time and I might have to restrain myself because his face has been pretty punchable lately."
Christine sighs and releases her, moving to the side so that she can pass through the open front door. A small breeze makes its presence known as it wafts through the doorway and chills make their way across both females bodies.
Christine shoots her a look, "we both know I wasn't talking about Maverick - you need to go see your dad today, one way or another. Trust me, you'll regret it for the rest of your life if you don't..."
Without looking at the older woman Spitfire slowly walks through the front door before pausing, heaving a sigh and turning back. "Fine, I'll go but I can't promise anything."
"Honey you don't have to promise a thing, just go listen to what he has to say." The younger woman only nods her head once before turning her back on the door and walking towards where she had parked her car earlier that day.

The words of Elvis Presley's song hard headed woman blares through the speakers as Spitfire parks in front of the home she had grown up in. She reluctantly softens the volume of the song while turning off the ignition.
Staring up at the white walls, memories come flooding back in...
a memory of Iceman throwing her up in the air when she was 5...
a memory of Iceman teaching her how to ride a bike at the age of 7...
a memory of Iceman comforting her after she had gotten her first period at the age of 13...
It all came flooding back in like a water-gate opening up but she refused to cry, this was not the time to be sad. Like the wise words of King Presley "A hard headed woman been a thorn in the side of man."
And that is exactly what she had been all her life, and what she'll continue to be from this moment forward. Taking a final deep breath, she opens up the car door and shuts it behind her, squaring her shoulders as she walks up the paved driveway to the front door.
Before even raising her fist to knock on the wood, it swings open revealing the worried look of her mother. "He's been waiting for you - upstairs," her mother motions to the carpeted stairs that led to the office and turns away, not even sparing Spitfire another glance.
She always knew when to leave the redhead alone.
Trudging up the stairs she glances at all of the photos hanging on the wall, all of them containing some piece of her and Iceman together. Her heart grows heavy as she realises that he won't be with them for much longer anymore.
She stops at the top of the step where the largest photo hangs, her eyes gliding over every inch of the printed out paper. The bright smile of her 12 year old self staring back at her through the glass.
