They say, when a storm is out there, everyone must eventually face the storm. It's necessary. For it's only during a storm that a tree knows how strong it is.

And what if it wasn't that strong?

Then the obvious would happen. The storm would eventually uproot the tree.

But what happens to those who were holding onto that tree?

It's simple, they fall hard.

However, as they say, sometimes the harder you fall the stronger you rise. But it was choice that one have a make.

An so, in the next chapter of her life, Lina would have choose. Whether to rise again and find an anchor when the waves came crashing down or to let herself drown in the sea of darkness.

The choice was hers.

When Lina woke up from her deep slumber, she found that she was still in the living room. A pillow was tucked under her head and another one on her side to prevent her from falling. She blinked away the sleep in her eyes, and rolled over onto her back. Then she slowly lifted her hands and silently observed her bandaged palm.

Tears gathered in her eyes. Waves of emotions erupted in her chest.

Another scar was added to her already existing collection of scars.

Will this suffering ever end? A silent tear escaped her eyes. It hurt. These flashbacks. These memories. It really hurt. It was as if she had landed herself in an unending chain of agony.

"Princess."

Startled, Lina lifted her eyes and stared at the silhouetted figure sitting in the armchair by the window of the living room. "Papa," she whispered as she sat up and gently rested her head against the couch.

Her father closed his laptop and walked towards her. "I was just about to wake you up." He glanced at his wristwatch and gave her a soft smile. "It's ten in the morning and you need to eat your breakfast."

Lina's eyes widened for a split second. Ten? She had slept till ten o'clock? Her heart skipped a beat. Her mother would have been furious. Mahira hated when Lina woke up late. Even on holidays she would have to wake up early.

A memory flashed through her mind. Her heartbeat quickened. For a second, Lina closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and then opened them. "He's not her." She whispered in her head. The doubtful thoughts settled in the bottom of her mind were trying their best to give her a different message. But she ignored them. "No." She shook her head.

When Lina saw shadowed circles under his eyes a pang of guilt belted within her chest. So much for not wanting to cause trouble. Lina was simply making their lives difficult. For a moment she wondered. Aren't they tired of her yet? Didn't they think it was a huge mistake to bring her to their lives?
