Chapter 16: Kankri

Cronus quickly looked up out the window, pulling away from the kiss that we had been sharing.
"Shit. Kan, what time is it?"
"I don't know," I whined. "Does it really matter right now?"
He got off of me and we sat up together. I was more than a little annoyed at his abruptly stopping, and the expression on my face showed that. He crawled into the front seat, looking at the clock.
"4:30. S'almost sunrise, we gotta get home."
I sighed, crawling lazily into the passenger's seat as he buckled his seatbelt and turned on the ignition. Suddenly, before I had a chance to buckle my seatbelt, he gunned the engine and shot through the strip of parking lots. I imagined a trail of fire following us, like in the movies.

I had finally gotten over my heart attack by the time he sped into the driveway. He laughed at me. "You alright there, chief?"
I nodded breathlessly, still breathing heavily and unable to say anything. My knuckles were white from gripping the armrest so tightly. Cronus got out of his side and helped me out again, just as he had at the movie theater earlier.
"Do you know any other way to drive? One that might not get us arrested, perhaps?"
He laughed lightheartedly as he helped me inside. "I'll slow down if the fuzz ever show up, alright?"
"Alright..." I was still unconvinced.

Inside, the house was asleep. Not silent, but asleep. All Amporas snore. Dualscar is the loudest. We could hear him from the living room as soon as we walk into the house. I looked at Cronus and we both snickered at the sound he was making. It could best be described as a wild bore with a head cold going through intense labor after being shoved in a bucket of cold water.
I mean. What.
Cronus and I went up to his room and changed into our pajamas, then snuggled in his bed before falling asleep together.
