It has been a few weeks since the conference and work has been really good lately. Besides my boss is still being an arsehole that he is and calling me 'Murray'. I really thought that he had changed that day we met up with Mr Wayne. Clearly not. He was just making a good impression...I wish I could show him what respect is but then again, I can't do that. I show so much respect for him and it's like he doesn't even see it. Even if he does see it, it's like he doesn't actually care.
I don't want to think about that. Right now, I'm getting ready to go clubbing with Roni. I didn't want to go but she kept begging and begging me and I decided to go with her.
"You ready?" Roni asked me as she put on her jacket. "Yes I am." I say and we walked out the door now heading towards the club.
20 minutes later, we arrive at the club. "This is gonna be lit as fuck." Roni says, moving her hips. "Quit acting like a spastic, you look like you've just been pre-drinking and smoking dope." I say to Roni making her laugh. "Look at this huge line." She cries. We waited and waited and waited for the line to end until it was finally us. "ID please." The bouncer said, holding his hand out. We grabbed our ID's and he allowed us in.
"Instantly, I'm heading to the bar." I say as I exhale loudly. "Yeah me too, I'm coming with you." Roni said.
"Omg hey, Caleb!" I say as I see him behind the bar. "You didn't say you worked here." I added on. "I'm sorry about that."
"Aye no worries. It's good to see you." I say, smiling. "You too." He smiles back but looked like he wasn't expecting to see me here at all. "You out with anyone or?" He asked me. "Yeah I'm with Roni. You remember I spoke to you about her?" I asked as I introduced him to Roni. "Yeah, yeah. It's nice to meet you." He says. "Is this the sexy guy you were talking to me about?" She asked as she gave me a flirty look. Caleb and I just giggled, but I added a nudge on her shoulder. "What can I get for the both of you lovely girls tonight?"
"Can I get two vodka raspberries for Roni and I please?" I asked him.
Caleb went off to go make our drinks but as I was about to pay for the drinks, some guy came in between Roni and I. "Allow me." He said as I see his hand full with a thick ward of cash in front of me. I look at him. "No thanks." I say, politely. "Why not? A beautiful woman like you two doesn't need to spend their precious money on alcohol when a rich man can do it for them." He said to me, getting closer.
"We can do it ourselves, but thanks anyway." I replied to him but with less sass and more niceness so I don't get mugged or attacked.
"You're a real hard one, aren't you?" He asked me as he put his hand under my dress causing me to gasp and move away. "Don't touch me." I scream, pushing him away. "I won't hurt you." He said. "Hey! Leave her alone punk!" Roni screams at him. He moves her away by pushing her face with his hand. "Don't touch her!" I yell out.
"I just want to pay for my own drinks. Can I do that please." I begged. "Come on baby."
"Yo man, leave her be she doesn't want you to pay for her." Caleb said as he walks back with the drinks. "Shut up man, this doesn't concern you." The guy said. "Yeah it does and as a matter of fact I can call security if you don't leave her alone." Caleb mentions. The guy ignores him and focused on me again, now grabbing my arm. "Get off me!" I try to scream. "You're a feisty little one."
"She said get off her." A man said. A man who sounds familiar. I look behind the creep and see Colby Banks there. He grabs the man's shirt and pulls him off me. "What part of 'get off me' do you not understand?" Colby asked him in a rather rude way. They're faces were inches away from each other. I just stare at Colby. "If I see you near this woman again, I'll kill you." Colby said.
"Fair enough." The harassing man said, raising his hands up as if he was surrendering. Colby had pushed him completely with full force and turned to look at me. I turn around to take my drink but I don't turn back around to look at him. Roni thanks me for paying for her drink and we both clank our glasses together. "That guy was a real jerk."
"Yeah he was." I replied, taking a sip out of my drink.
"I'm gonna go out to the dance floor I just wanna move my hips, baby!". Roni says. Before I could even stop her, I hear Colby speak. "Vodka raspberry?" He asked as he stands next to me. I look up at him quickly but then looked away. I then look at him again but this time, I keep my eyes on him.
He's such a good looking man. No wonder all the women were so desperate for this position. Come to think of it, we're both at a club and I'm dressed as a slut. He's never seen me like this and now he probably thinks I'm a prostitute. "It's rude to stare." He says, not looking at me as he watches the bartender make his drink. I quickly look away and take a sip of my drink. I hear him chuckle a little which made me look at him once again. God, he's beautiful. Those features, oh my. Fuck Melissa, shut up he's your boss.
I turned away, once again. I swig the vodka raspberry full and asked for another cup. "Hey Caleb, can I have two more vodka raspberries please?" I asked him as I grab a hold of his wrist, gently. "Sure thing, gorgeous." He answers with a smile. I find myself paying $52 for these two drinks now realising how much I've already spent on 4 drinks. Please make conversation with me Caleb. I say to my self as I didn't want to feel extremely awkward in front of my boss. It's crazy how we're both standing so close to each other at a club.
"I didn't know you go to places like these." I mention to Colby, trying to make conversation. I didn't want to speak to him. I feel like it seemed a bit unprofessional to do that out of work hours. "I could say the same thing to you too, Miss." He replies. Now keeping it silent.
"Here you go, my lady." Caleb says as he gives them both to me. "Thank you so much." I say, now downing the first one instantly. I chug the second one but stop not even half way. I chocked on my drink only to stop the burning feeling of vodka in my throat.
"You really shouldn't be downing drinks like that, Miss Murray." Colby says causing me to look at him. I parted my mouth as I was about to speak but Caleb came into the conversation. "Sorry Melissa, do you know this man or am I gonna have to call security on him?" He asked me with a concerned look pasted on his face. "Oh, no. It's okay. This is my boss, Mr Banks." I say and Caleb nods his head of approval. I notice Colby give Caleb a nasty stare. I once again, downed my drink. I paid for 3 more drinks overtime. Downed one but slowed down on the last two I had. I felt a little sick in my stomach but I continued to drink. I'm regretting on chugging these drinks but I feel extremely awkward and I know I shouldn't do it as an excuse...
Colby and I had a conversation about work. To be honest, I wasn't listening much on it but I agreed to majority of anything he was saying.
We spoke for a while, he was nice. He wasn't the way he usually is at work. I guess he's just always so stressed when he's working. Maybe that's why he's clubbing tonight. Drinking with his employees. His assistant I should say. Yeah, it's real appropriate Mr Banks. I think to myself in a sarcastic way. I feel my head spin in many ways which hurt. I didn't think much of it and I downed my last drink.
My head started hurting a lot more. I haven't felt this in a long time and right now I'm definitely regretting my decision on spending so much money on alcohol. My vison started getting blurry and I could only see movement in slow motion. That would only mean a one thing. I may be tipsy. Not drunk yet, but tipsy. "Miss Murray, you shouldn't be drinking so much like this. Especially in front of your boss, it's unprofessional." Colby says causing me to turn my head towards him.
"Okay, for your information, Colby. If it's so unprofessional then why are you still here drinking with me like we're all of a sudden best pals? And for the last time, it's 'Murphy' not 'Murray'. God, just get it right and I know you know it. You just pretend to not know it just to tick me off. Oh but you succeeded. It's ticked me off real bad to the point where I've literally cringed so hard I've wanted to throw a brick at your fucking face." I say out of anger.
He takes a big sip of his drink and looked away from me. I now realised that I've made such a massive mistake. I'm gonna regret this in the morning. I even spoke his first name which he told me not to do. "I'm sorry." I say, calming down. "I expected better from you." He says to me, still drinking from his bourbon. "Let me fix it." I say. 'There's nothing to fix." Is all he says. He finishes his drink in one big gulp and walks away from the counter. I follow behind him. "Wait. Am I fired?" I asked him as I grabbed his forearm. He swings his arm gently so that my hand slips off his arm.
I continue to follow Colby and noticed he was exiting the club. I grab his arm again and swung him to look at me. Our bodies were close to each other but I didn't care in that moment. I really fucked up this time and I didn't want to get fired. We enter a more quiet secluded area as we walk towards the exit. "Let's talk about this." I say, lowering my voice, tears almost stream down my face but I hold them back.
Colby grabs me, tightly places his two manly hands on both sides of my arms. "Listen, you're drunk. I'll call Bandit so he can take you home because right now, you're pissing me off." He says aggressively. "No, I don't want to go home. I want to fix things with you." I said, this time tears coming down my face. Not only just about what I did but also the tight grip that he had on me. We both look at each others eyes until finally he let's go of my arms and exits the building.
This is what drinking does to you. It fucks with your brain and makes you do and say all sorts of shit that you don't want to do.
I massage my arms a bit while following him out. I stop at my tracks as he is no where to be seen. He just vanished so quickly like a professional assassin or hitman.
I look around trying to locate him but I really couldn't see where he had gone. My eyes had gone worse and my head was hurting even more. I tried to walk my way around areas as well as giving it my best to locate Colby. This time, I let out my tears even more. I didn't know where I was, I felt I had travelled quite a bit. I sat around the corner of whatever building I was at and curled up into my knees. I cried for a bit just letting it out. Why of all nights, I had to see my fucking boss at a fucking club. I'm so immature.
I remembered that I had left Roni back at the club. But I don't know where to go. I grabbed out my phone and messaged her.
