Can couldn’t wipe the grin on his face as he went for his evening run. He’d spent all day making love to Sanem and if he had it his way he would’ve spent the night doing the same but she had to drop by the station. He couldn’t believe how amazing this woman was. Every time he wanted them to take it slow and relax because he was worried she would be sore, she’d refused and stirred him on again. He knew there was no going back after this. She was his. Maybe she didn’t know it yet but he’d wait for her and make her his forever.
Half way into his run he realized he’d been spent the entire day and wasn’t sure why he was forcing himself to run. It was more so he didn’t miss her too much when she was gone. So he walked back to his apartment planning to take it easy and rest.
When he got to his door, he was surprised to find an envelope placed on the ground right on his doorstep. He picked it up and shook it to see what it was. Once he was inside he ripped up the top and found a blown up picture of him and Sanem outside his door. He wasn’t sure when it’d been taken or what message this was trying to send so he looked at the back to see if there was anything there.Stay away from her if you want her to live!

Sanem didn’t know if mind blowing sex had a direct effect on mind clarity but she remembered something when she was laying on Can’s chest. She knew whoever took Can’s camera and the flash drive must’ve had security clearance which narrowed down the possibilities. But except Sarp she had no other suspects. There was one thing she had overlooked. Every corner of the station was equipped with a security camera. Whoever picked up the camera from the IT department must be connected to the murder. She asked the officer in charge of handling the videos to check the videos of the date the camera had gone missing. She sat in his office as he played the video from right outside the IT department.
‘We’re not going to watch this for twenty four hours are we?’ She asked impatiently.
‘Well do you know what time frame you’re looking for?’ Sanem thought back to when she’d found out it was missing. Guliz had called to ask and they said someone had picked it up in the morning.
‘Yes the morning before 9am’
‘Alright, that makes things a lot easier’ He fast forwarded the video to the time frame they were looking for.
‘What is it?’ she asked when he kept playing with the controls with a confused expression on his face.
‘This is strange’
‘What is it?‘See the time here in the bottom? It automatically skips an hour starting from 7am; someone must’ve played with it…’ Sanem sighed in disappointment. Whoever it was, was smart.
‘Can we check the evidence room too?’ he switched to another folder and opened it.
‘We should be looking at the night shift for the same day’ he scrolled through the eight hour period pretty quickly, checking for anyone who might come in to view.
‘It seems like no one came by at night. Doesn’t it close at 8pm?’ he asked confused. She knew that but that’s why she wanted to look if someone had come in at night when no one was around.
How else would someone have taken the flash drive from Guliz?‘Yeah, I just wanted to check something. Can you watch the whole video and make a list of everyone that came to the evidence room on that day?’ She got up to leave annoyed that her hunch about the security cameras became fruitless.
Clearly the person was smart enough to erase their footage, which meant that it was someone who was intelligent. Sarp came to her mind again. She’d disregarded her suspicions the other night when he told her the director was only his uncle but was that good enough to make him innocent? In fact it proved that there could be a real motive behind trying to cover up for him. What if he was lying about not having seen him for a long time?
It was late when she decided to leave her office and go home to rest. She’d had a long day and she needed a bath to relieve some of the soreness in her muscles. She couldn’t help the silly smirk her lips formed at the thought of her eventful morning.
Just as she was leaving her office, she heard Bulut’s voice calling her.‘Bulut?’
‘Hey Sanem, I’m glad I caught you I’ve been wanting to ask you something’
‘Shoot’
‘I don’t know if Deren told you yet but I’m taking her out tomorrow. You know how much I’ve wanted this for years and now that she said yes I’m just not sure what she’s going to like. Do you know what her ideal date is?’ He was obviously very nervous.
‘Bulut, you’re stressed out for no reason. I wouldn’t worry about where you’re going to take her, she likes you a lot and she’s going love wherever you’re going to take her. Don’t try to impress her too much.’ It seemed to reassure him.
‘Can I ask you something?’
‘Sure, what’s up?’
‘Have you noticed anything weird about Sarp lately?’ He didn’t seem surprised by her question.
‘I’ve been meaning to talk to you about this actually; Deren told me that you thought he was put on your case. Ever since then I’d been noticing that he’s been coming to work late on a daily basis. He was also getting calls that he had to take far away from people. So I was starting to get worried and I asked him about it today. He told me he was in the middle of a pretty serious family crisis, he didn’t say who but it seemed like someone was seriously ill. He’s been having a hard time dealing with all of it. I felt horrible for assuming something else.’
‘Right’ she said in half agreement. She avoided going further into it seeing as how convinced Bulut was but she was now sure that Sarp was hiding something.
-The next morning her first trip was to see Guliz. If no one came in at night to steal the flash drive someone must’ve gotten in during the day. She knew Guliz didn’t leave the evidence room but someone could’ve come in to see her and taken it when she was distracted.
‘Hey Sanem’ she greeted her back.
‘Do you remember who came in to see you the day we lost the flash drive?’ she got straight to the point.
‘I think it was just you, it was a slow day’ she was thoughtful for a second.‘Wait actually Sarp came in to give me a cup of coffee which was so sweet of him. Are you sure you want to pass up such a gentlemen?’ That was it.
He was the one who destroyed the evidence against the director and curator. How far was he involved in all of this? Could he be the one who killed Kemal? She knew only one person who could confirm her suspicions.
˜
‘When am I getting out of here?’ Altan asked bored.‘Never, if you don’t tell me what I want’ her patience for him was running thin. She dropped a picture of Sarp on the desk and waited for him to talk.
‘What? Am I supposed to know who this is?’ he asked clueless.
‘I know he was working with you. Now tell me what you know.’
‘I don’t think you understood me the first time I only know the curator. I don’t know who this guy is.’
‘Come on Altan, don’t waste my time tell me everything or you’ll be stuck here forever.’
‘I am telling you everything, I don’t want to be here another second. I don’t know this man and I don’t know your photographer friend.’
