sage's pov

I was stood out in the pissing rain, watching everyone on the inside of the pub having a good time. I smiled thoughtfully at all of my friends, even Katie. God, even Katie.

I sigh, content with my life... sort of. I walk into the bar, Freddie being the first to notice me. He walked over. "I would make a wet joke, but that's not my style." Freddie laughed, helping me out of my soaked coat.

"Yeah, I would've shut up if I were you too." I remark, giggling slightly as I struggle to pull my wet hair out of my face.

"Here." Freddie wipes it away, making me blush. "C'mon, everyone's eager to find out what we all got." Freddie grabbed my hand and walked me over to our destination.

JJ stood up as I sat down, clinking his glass to gain everyone's attention. "Right, now that Sage has turned up and we're all suitably refreshed..." Everyone cheers, but I stay quite as I smile at JJ.

"Speech!" Thomas exclaimed.

"The Exam Results Party Planning Committee have decreed that all our results be read out in quick succession. So, ready..." JJ paused, and I sigh at the topic. Freddie's hand was placed upon my thigh, squeezing it slightly. I look to him and he had a sympathetic smile on his face. "A, A, B!" JJ quickly said.

Everyone cheered out, clapping their hands. Naomi soon stood up. "A, A, A!"

"B, B, C!"

"C in Philosophy!"

"B, C, C!"

"A, B, C." Effy said quietly in her usual monotone voice.

"A, C, C!" Freddie stood up, watching him carefully as he smiled awkwardly.

"I got expelled!" Thomas stood up, and the cheers were louder this time around, making me laugh.

Everyone watched me intently, and I felt under pressure. "Sage?" Pandora gave me a half smile from beside Effy who sat next to me.

I sigh, standing up. "A, A, A." I admit, making everyone's eyebrows furrow in confusion. "I suppose God is on my side." I shrug, sitting down as everyone goes off into their own conversations.

Freddie leaned into my ear, whispering something. "The math isn't mathing, Sage." he jokes, and I furrow my eyebrows.

"What?" I whisper back.

"Aw, look at you two love birds!" Pandora exclaimed, making both Freddie and I turn to her. "Who's heading back to who's for a round of surf'n'turf?" She giggled, earning a nudge from Effy.

I shook my head, half smiling at the ditsy young girl. I end up standing up, ready to leave. "I'm heading. I'm knackered, need to take my medication." I blabber on.

I quickly slip out, turning towards my usual way home before bumping into James Cook.

"Alright, Angel." Cook smirked, drenched in the pissing rain as he smoked on something. God knows what.

I walk towards him, smiling slightly. "Aren't you supposed to be in prison or something?" I spoke for the first time to him in a while. I missed his silly banter.

He smiled. "Aren't you supposed to be in the loony bin?" He questioned with a smirk.

"Ha, you say that, but I know you missed me." I point him out, and he shook his head. "Don't lie to me, James Cook. I see right through you." I tuck my damp hair behind my ear. "Also, I did my time. You should have done yours."

"I did enough." Cook shook his head, and I frown. "Surely you're not missing out on this? Last time I checked, you always had your head down and worked hard for your grades... so why are you leaving the celebration for your final grades."
